Hi all...just wondering if anyone has them. I thought I wanted granite, but the movement doesn''t work with my backsplash...so I''m likely going to
do a chocolate brown from the new-ish designer series...It has a little touch of darker chocolate movement in it almost like a marble. very nice.

I''m worried about clouding since the sample in the show room had it (I was told that was unusual)....Thanks!

oops. meant zodiaq.

Hi MMM!

I dont have Zodiac countertops, but I just wanted to say hi and see how your move went and how you are doing in NC. Are you loving it? I cant wait to see pics of your new house (you will post them, right)? Are you missing NYC at all?

Hey there! Thanks! I do love it! Although the accents and voices and some of these women makes me want to ..... LOL...It''s brutal at times!! :)

The house is great...under some major renovations now...I''m taking pix as we go and will post when I have the before and afters!!!

Get SileStone, it''s better.

What does your backspalsh look like?

I don''t like the Silestone colors...they are a little boring. The Zodiaq is a chocolate brown with dark brown very subtle almost marble-like swirls...

The cabinets are Vanilla Bean and the backsplash is really hard to describe...It is a subway tile (actually a square that is being cut to a subway)...that looks like fabric....it has some off white, some beige, and some very very subtle gray with these chocolate like threads that run vertically. It''s super neat! And the floor is going to be Minwax English Chestnet...I hope it''s not too red. The other dark finishes are too gray....

Oh, just to specify, it''s actually OKITE....by Zodiaq. I didn''t know there was a diff!

Hey MMM I''m glad the move is working out for you guys! We used Cambria brand quartz countertops when we remodeled our kitchen and we love them. We haven''t had any problems whatsoever after more than two years. Cambria is virtually the same as Zodiac and Silestone but I''m not sure if the Okite is the same thing???

Thanks so much guys!

I looked at Cambria, and there were some really pretty colors, but I''m not a fan of "speckles"...I want more movement than specks...does that make sense?
The Okite Zodiaq looks like a dark dark chocolate marble almost so I l love it....I can''t find much negative stuff online so I guess I''ll go for it....Thanks to all!

I can''t wait to see your before and after pics! Sometimes I have to translate for my MIL. She has a *very* hard time understanding people with deep southern accents.

How about a "during"? LOL....That is the view from the kitchen into the den/great room. Only unexpected HUGE BUMMER is see that post/stud all the way to the left, well, that is the nexus of the universe and there is no way around it even with a beam to support the ceiling....HUGE BUMMER. The contractor can move it to the left a foot but then the beam will still need to project to the current location b/c again, it's the nexus of the universe upstairs LOL... Did I mention that it's a huge bummer?

EDITED*** OH, actually, this is an old photo...that was before the remainder of the old pantry was taken out so the entry to the den is much larger...and there is no doorway to the hall on the right..Yeah, but that b'ing post is still there.

I have Silestone and it is really great. It happens to work very well in my kitchen, but I only liked a limited number of the colors.

One important thing: My kitchen is not sunny. If you have a lot of direct sunlight in your kitchen I would use granite. I know the silestone will fade in direct sunlight and I would worry about the other quartz products like Zodiaq the same.

I like quartz for it''s durabilty and easy of installation as well as the fact that the colors are consistent and you can replace with like product if you need to in the future. I have not had any trouble with it at all. But in a sunny room - granite.

Thanks Beacon! And that looks great! I love the dark browns with creams...
I did order the Zodiaq Okite in the brown....and luckily there is no direct light....!

That is interesting about the sunlight. I wouldn''t never have guessed they faded.

MMM, hope you are enjoying NC still!
