Wow! What a film! What a story! What a woman! What an artist!
I was aware of her and liked what I heard.
But the world is rich with lots of excellent stuff that I haven't pursued.

Struggling with her own particular demons really resonated with me.
I struggle with mine.
Two thumbs up, and two big toes too!

Streaming now ... included with Peacocktv.

It is a great story. I was heartbroken when she died.

Opps! spelling error ... the film's title is not Black to Black; it's Back to Black.

Duh Kenny!

I haven't watched because I feel like it will be depressing, given how her real story ended. Was it?

I can't answer, because I don't follow your reasoning.

Zillions of excellent films include a death.
Many happy fluffy G-rated Disney films have a character die.

I found it to be an excellent and deeply moving film on many levels.
I stream zillions of excellent films on the Criterion Collection , but rarely bother to start a thread about one.

If you already subscribe to Peacocktv, perhaps just start to watch it.
You're free to stop watching at any time.
Or don't.

True, but they aren't usually based on a true story, although some may be. And you may not know ahead of time how it ends. I get not wanting to go into watching a movie anticipating that you will be made sad by it. Especially if you watch films as a kind of escape from reality for a bit of time.

I love Amy dearly and loved ‘Back to Black’! I first heard her music when ‘Frank’ was released in the UK at the end of 2003, and fell in love with her voice (my father loved Jazz, so growing up I listened to Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald etc).
Her life story is sad but also shows a resilient, talented and beautiful young woman.
Her album ‘Back to Black’ is the reason/title of the film.

Yes we loved it too. And I also get struggling with personal demons. I cannot remember that quote but the more one thinks the more one struggles in life

She was a genius and her talent unparalleled. She was too sensitive and too fragile for this world. May she be resting in peace.
