I was hearing on the news that there is a large differential based on age on who makes New Year's resolutions. I guess the older you get, the less likely you are to make them. I try to find at least one that is "doable". I've learned that stretching too far doesn't work for me. So my resolution this year is to try to make sure that I eat dinner by 9:00 p.m. as I'm often finding that I eat too late (I'm a night owl). Anyone want to share theirs, if they have one, or more?

... I guess the older you get, the less likely you are to make them. ...
I'd call it outgrowing youthful folly, a good thing.

I gave up that decades ago, that is if I ever did it at all.
Strikes me as silly.

Here's my advice to follow every day.
If you want to do something, do it.
If you don't, then don't.
Every day.

Why should the earth being in the same position in its annual orbit around the sun once again have anything to do with the price of eggs in Ethiopia?

Also, like religions, humans have invented many calendars.
Which one is right?
Why the need for some arbitrary annual reset on some magical date?

But as always, you do you.

I probably won't share details but I love new year's resolutions and put considerable time and thought into writing mine. To me, it's a convenient annual time to take stock of my life and think about what direction/s I want to go in. I refer back to it throughout the year and usually reach about half, which is more than I'd likely do without setting the goals to aim for in the first place. :)

I never made them. Not because I am perfect but because I strive all year long to be a better person and do my best.

Hi!
I'm middle-aged and these are my new year's resolutions:
- ironing at least twice a week
- more hand lotion
- taking care of my health
- more walks without feeling guilty for wasting time
- occasionally and within my means, buying me nice gifts without feeling guilty for wasting money
- finding nice ways to induce unpleasant people spontaneously get out my life

I don’t make them and I think part of it is because it doesn’t feel like a new year to me. It’s the dead of winter and it gets dark early etc - Also, I’m in the academic system so the start of the academic year feels more like a new year - that is when I start to make changes if I feel there are changes to be made.

YES!

2024 I wanted to improve my health, eat better/exercise regularly, continue working OT to save for my ring, and demand a raise at work. I’ve lost 54 pounds, improved my health significantly- blood pressure is great, cholesterol is on point, and the GI issues I had have since been resolved. I worked my butt off- demanded a big raise and got it! We traveled to NY for a family vacation and this girl who’s never owned a diamond, walked into the diamond district (words cannot describe the anxiety here, lol) and found her stone… and an incredible jeweler who performed a miracle and was able to not only secure the stone (officially on Thursday) but below her budget ❤️

2025 Goals

#1 Priority: Health
Continue eating health, exercising consistently and loose my last 20 pounds

#2: More life work balance
Now that I’ve secured my pay and my stone… begin cutting back my hours at work. My new work schedule will be Mon-Thurs (thurs done at 12). This will be part of a long goal… 2026 I plan on dropping Thursdays all together.

#3: Complete my ring
Thursday my stone travels from NY to DK for the next 6-8 weeks. We are renewing our vows sometime in 2025, so I’ll need her before then :kiss2:.

#4: GIA classes
With my reduced work schedule, this summer I plan on taking a couple classes through GIA.

I have made NY resolutions for the past few years. I choose things that I need to take care of and have been avoiding because it will take a lot of time or be annoying, but which I know will ultimately support my well-being. It helps me get over my natural avoidance issues lol Plus the accomplishment when I've done it feels higher. Not only do I tick something off my to-do list, but I accomplish a resolution to boot!

This year my resolution is to take care of a foot injury/issue that has been causing me chronic pain. I am also resolving to finally figure out a better organizational system for my mud room.

Hmmm.
Firm up my boundaries.
Be gentle with myself.
Quit holding tension in my core.
Give less f*cks in some areas.
Find joy if I can (and I hope I can).
Get a great haircut or not give a fig if it isn't.

So now we’re old if we don’t make New Years Resolutions? Ok…

I resolve to center women.
I resolve to make the world a better place for women.
I resolve to do more for women.
I resolve to be a better woman.

My NY resolution never changes lol - to lose weight. I’m not overweight or anything, but I’d like to be thinner so my BMI is closer to the lower end of the scale than the higher. My goal is around 5-6kg (12-15lbs?)

One of mine is to limit watching the news. I watched for 5 minutes this morning and turned it off so I haven’t broken the resolution yet. It was a little difficult after this mornings news.

@Begonia, I hope you don’t mind if I also take a couple of your resolutions?

I said the same thing last year CC. It seems more than a minute is too much. This AM, case in point? UGH. :eek-2::(sad

Absolutely little sister.

Thank you @Begonia. You really came up with some good ones. I hope you find lots of joy this year. At the end of the day even little sparks of joy can make for a wonderful life.

Honestly, I only hope this one particular friend of mine has a better year this year than last. Nothing for me, I'm mostly carefree and my health is not perfect, but quite manageable. No fitness goals because last time I tried that I tore and ligament in my hip.

Spend within my means!

DK :roll2: :lol-2:

I made a few for this year - really honing in on my bread making skills (especially sourdough), getting fluent in one of the languages I’ve been meaning to work on, and getting more protein (and fruit) in our diets.
