Hudson Hawk posted a link to this place:

And I was wondering if anyone, including HH, has ever ordered from BridalDress4U and if so, what was your experience? Did the dress look exactly like their web photos? Did it fit well? Need alot of altering, etc?

I''m leery of ordering from a place in Hong Kong with only a 3 day return policy. But...I absolutely love the Monique Lhullier/Jim Hjelm look and cannot afford even the close knock offs here (which I''m seeing at nearly $3k). So that''s the only reason I even entertain the thought of ordering from this place. Any experiences with this site, I''d love to know about...thanks!

I was thinking of ordering from them too, but there is a really weird phenomenon with them. Despite their tons and tons of advertising, I have only encountered ONE person on any of the wedding boards I frequent who had ordered from them at all, and they weren't happy. They said the lace was not high quality and that they had to have a TON of alterations done to try and make it fit. But I find it odd that I can't find more people who have ordered from them anywhere considering there large amount of advertising they do. Hopefully someone else will chime in...

What you might want to do is to see if any of your local bridal stores have clearance outlets or sample sales. I'm just under the sample size, and on saturday I happened to drive down to a local bridal store's clearance outlet. I ended up finding a $3,000+ Judd Waddell gown for only $700!!! And on the day I was about to go and drop $1600 at least on a dress at another local store. They had many other gowns too in other sizes as well. Things like ripped linings, being altered too short for the bride, a missing eye hook, etc. cause them to drop thousands off the price just to get it out of the store.

Also, preownedweddingdresses.com, indiebrides, and partypop all have great dresses for sale sometimes and ML and Jim H. show up very often for great prices.

Oh yay! The first post addressed to me you just made my day!!!

Unfortunately I have not purchased a dress from Bridaldress4u.com. I don''t remember where I found the site either. I just liked the style of dresses they had so it was on my list of possible sources.

I too would love to hear any rants or raves about the site.

Good luck!!

HH

I just went to the site, and I think it looks a little shady. If you click on their testimonials site, it takes you to their eBay feedback profile. They have 100% positive feedback, but I would still feel funny about sending them hundreds of dollars. To me, it looks like they have stolen pictures (I recognize one from Davids Bridal) from famous name dress makers and are simply selling replicas. I would not want to risk my money with their 3-day return policy and a 50% restocking fee. I have a feeling that they are simply making cheap replicas. The dress I ended up buying is not made by a famous designer, but it is well made. I guess I''m trying to say I would personally have a hard time spending that much money without really being able to see the quality of the dress.

surfgirl,

I haven''t heard anything about that particular site, but I did hear good things from theknot.com about Julius Bridal, who makes ML knockoffs, like this:

Julius Bridal ''Coco''

Hi!

I was thinking of ordering from them, too...(knowing full well these are knock-offs, not the real thing), but that was after finding them on ebay, not on their bridaldress4u website. I did a thorough internet search to find out anything about them, and the only thing I found was a posting on theknot:

http://talk.theknot.com/boards/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=26715748

http://community.theknot.com/cs/ks/user/page.aspx?username=sehkmet22#dresssaga

I had also read somewhere that someone had emailed the people who gave positive feedback on ebay and asked them for more info - like were they truly satisfied..so you could try that route. (oh and they do have some neutral rather than positive feedback...it seems to happen mostly with the silky dresses rather than the lace ones, though!)

Thanks for the feedback from The Knot! I dont read there and I dont think I''m going to buy from them after reading that. Their return policy is just too unfriendly.

EBree, THANK YOU for that link to Julius Bridal! The Coco dress IS very ML and I love it. In ivory it could be perfect and the price is great too. I may check that out and call them. Their return policy is short, but they''ll take the dress back for any reason so it seems good.

I did buy a dress from Bloomingdales a couple weeks back, just in case. It was in my price range and from BCBG. A silk chiffon Edwardian looking column dress, Empire waist with black silk chiffon sash under the bust. It looks wonderful but I''m not sure if I want something more "bridey" or not. Anyway, thanks for this new option!

The 3 day return policy from Hong Kong sounds a little shady. Does that include the shipping time or 3 days after you receive the dress. It may be more trouble than it''s worth.

EBREE that dress is absolutely gorgeous.

So now, has anyone actually bought anything or heard anything about Julius Bridal??

Back when I was a moderately active member of The Knot, I remember several brides chose and were pleased with Julius Bridal dresses. I think a couple had issues with the fit, but the dress was fixed.

Here''s a HUGE thread about them on WeddingChannel. I haven''t read through it, so I don''t what these women''s experiences were, but it''s worth a look:

Julius Bridal, anyone?

I''ve been in touch with Mimi of Julius Bridal and I''ll speak with her tomorrow but I think I''m going to try to order the COCO from them. It''s the closest I can get to a Monique Lhullier without spending over $1000 and I''m having a difficult time justifying more than a few hundred dollars for a dress that only my FI and maybe a couple other people will see when we elope...Fingers crossed...!

HH or anyone else still interested in a lace ML style gown for a crazy price (cheap) AND great return policy (Nordies) AND available without waiting (like Julius Bridal), I found this here:
