I was born in 1963, so I only have fuzzy memories of some of the subjects they're covering. I think this is some of the best stuff I've seen from CNN in a long time.

Yes, thanks for reminding me..

We just started it tonight. It's amazing. I've always been fascinated by the 60s and the depth that this show goes to to tell the history is remarkable. Like being in a time machine.

I feel sorry for LBJ b/c he was in a no win situation in the Vietnam War.

I knew they wouldn't cover the end of the war, since that was the '70s, but the Vietnam one really leaves you hanging.

My husband and I just finished watching the last episode, actually. It's really good. The sixties were before our time (we were born in '72 and '73), and it's been interesting to learn more about the events of that decade through interviews.

Thanks for reminding me. I remember vividly when 1959 turned to 1960. I was only 4, but had an awareness that we were moving into a new decade and that my Dad was a World War 2 veteran! And of course I remember Kennedy's assassination.

These types of programs should be required viewing in today's schools. There is not enough awareness of recent history and too much reality TV! I was just a youngster in elementary school when JFK was shot, but I remember all of us being sent home early that day. It was sad and tragic, especially for those of us living in Massachusetts, home of JFK. I learned a few things about that day that I never knew by watching CNN. It's a great series. I'm stuck in the 80's so hopefully they will do a series on that decade soon!
I also have memories of meeting and talking to Tom Brokaw one day during the 1976 NH Presidential primaries. He was very young and had recently become the anchor for NBC weekend news. A true gentleman.

He wasn't much of a gentleman after the '89 San Francisco quake, MB. Delivered from the best hotel in town by limo to the only area of the city that had major damage (because it was built on reclaimed mud & garbage, essentially), took off his suit jacket, rolled up his sleeves, loosened his tie, so he looked like a regular guy who'd been working all day, to give the news report in front of the only building that collapsed completely. Made it sound like the whole city had fallen into a crevasse. He threw a fit the 1st day when there were no flowers & fresh fruit in his limo for his precious self.

As for the 60s, I lived through them. I hated them; it was a stupid, selfish, awful time. The last thing I want to do is re-live them. Ick.

Is the series on Netflix or somewhere? Maybe we will watch them this summer.

I got the series set to record off of CNN.
