Oh ladies, I am feeling very confused at the moment and would really appreciate some guidance.

Today, I went to Abbey Bridal which is the flagship store for Maggie Sottero. I found my dress! (I think). I have been looking at the Anna ever since it was posted on the website, thought about it constantly and am basically just head over heels in love with it

So, I tried it on… but the only sample they had was a 6 whereas I am a 10. It didn’t do up properly and sat really weird-My Dad said that even than it still looked amazing but it didn’t give me that “Oh my God” moment.. it is a beautiful dress and I really think that if it would of fit I would of put the money down right there and than.

I have tried a dress on with a similar top that fit and I LOVED how it looked on.. so question is should I have a little faith and order it in my size? It takes 8 to 12 months to come in and the sales lady said it was a gold star dress (Something about limited fabric so the dress may not be in production as long as other styles)

Basically.. Do you think I should take the plunge and order it? I adore this dress and I think that it will blow me away when I get it in my size.. but I am still worried

Opinions???

(Sorry the photos are so small, I hard a hard time loading them)

Can you call around other stores to see if they have a sample in a larger size?

I find it hard to believe that it will take so long to come in. My BF ordered her Maggie dress here in Australia, and it was here in less than 3 months. I would do some more detective work if I were you, just to put your mind at rest.

It''s a gorgeous dress BTW

Hi Dannielle

I have just done something similar, although i tried on a Maggie that was too big for me, and i have ordered off of the size chart. I''m not too worried, and i don''t think you should be either.

when you said:

It made me think that you had found the dress of your dreams and you should stick with it. As long as they measure you up correctly in the store and order the dress that is closest to your size then you should be fine, there is absolutely no reason why it shouldn''t fit and look good, esp since you have tried on a similar top in the right size.

Take the plunge!

Honey- I thought that sounded like a long time aswell. There are a few other stores in Sydney that I will call tomorrow.. If I could just try it on properly my mind would be at ease and I''d happily hand over the deposit so they could start making it

Hawaiin- Which Maggie did you get?

I have ordered the Stirling, it is taking 16 weeks to get here. (I skipped my local bridal shop and ordered straight from the US because it was too expensive.)

as long as you are comfortable with the shape of the dress, whether you tried that one on or another similar fitted trumpet style, then I think you are fine. I was in the same boat you are, except the samples were 4s! None of the slimmer styles would even go over my hips, so no way to see what it would look like. Just know that the seamstress will make the dress a perfect fot for you, so as long as you are prepared for the fittedness (is that a word?) of the dress, you will be fine. Get the maggie, or I think you will always wonder if you had.

This is the dress I tried on a few weeks ago. It flattered my figure to no end but didn't "speak" to me.

Do you think that if this dress looked good on me, the Anna will to?

I think its a pretty safe bet. This one is a little softer at the transition between the two shapes where the Anna makes a more sudden shift...if this is a problem area for you it might make this one seem more flattering, but otherwise i''d say the silhouettes are similar. If you

the Anna-you may just have to make the leap.

Wow, the Anna is a gorgeous dress!! I say, go for the plunge! Order your dream dress :)

Well said. I agree with that.

Well I called the other stockists of Maggie Sottero in Sydney and none of them have the Anna.

I am very 'hippy' and have some weight of my thighs, belly and hips so I am nervous that the dress will make me look like a whale. I am going to mull over it for a week or so.. I don't want to rugh is and regrett it down the track.

Thanks for all of your advice ladies, it is really appreciated

Wow! That is a very gorgeous dress! I think they bridal shops know what they''re doing. I think you can have faith in them. It can also be altered. Hard decision!

I agree that you should think it over a little more and try some other styles. I'm not sure whether the Anna dress will flatter your figure

Maggie Sottero has a loner program. Have the salon call around and get a sample in your size. There will be a charge of $35 to $50, but it will be applied to the purchase price of the dress if you decide to order.

I love that gown. I''m pretty sure it will hide the areas you''re worried about, but I understand wanting to know for sure.

I showed my bridesmaids the photo of the dress and they think it will look great on my figure, so they are coming with me next week and if they like it in person I will put the deposit down..

As the saying goes, no risk.. no gain

Danielle,

That dress rocks! I don''t think your "hippy" figure (your words not mine! :p) will affect how the dress sits on you. Indulge on correct undergarment (body shaping ones that go down to your thigh) so the dress will look even more stunning on you.

Good luck girlie x

I think that dress is GORGEOUS! But if you''re not sure, definitely think it over a little and take your bridesmaids to get their opinion. But don''t let them talk you into it if you don''t love it the second time you try it on (or out of it if you decide you decide you DO love it!)

"I have been looking at the Anna ever since it was posted on the website, thought about it constantly and am basically just head over heels in love with it"

I thought you found THE one when you said that but when you said it didn''t give you the OMG moment when you wore it... then that may not be the dress for you...

it may sound cliche but, you''ll know it is THE one if you wore it (regardless of the sample size) and you definitely felt the OMG moment!

from one hippy girl to another, i say if you love it, i'm sure your curves will rock that dress! i've always been self conscious about my 'hippiness' but hey it's what i got, so i'm learning to love it, with that said, the dress is gorgeous!

is it possible for the store to find a sample close to your size, most stores i went to, the samples always ran at about a 10, so it surprises me that the store you went to only had a 6
