Hi PSers! :wavey:
I had a thread over in diamond hangout asking if black was appropriate to wear to a wedding--and the general consensus was YES. However, the more I thought about wearing black, the less I wanted to wear it (afternoon wedding, sept 4). I found a very pretty dress that is offered in an army green or a pale pink. I ordered both colors to see which I prefer. The pink one is $80 less than the green -- so I would *like* to wear that one but I'm concerned that a light pink is too close to white to wear to a wedding. What are your thoughts? Would you wear a pale pink dress to a wedding? What are your "rules" for wedding attire? Thanks so so much.

Can you post a picture of both dresses? I'd have to see the army green dress to vote for that one. Right now, my vote's pink.

Hi Zoe!
Thank you so much for your reply! I haven't received the dresses yet, I'll get them on Monday and I'll post a picture then! I'd like to give a more accurate representation of how the dress looks on someone who is 5'4 since it looks QUITE short on the 5'11 model! I wouldn't dream of wearing this dress to a wedding if I thought that it would be as micro-mini as it is on the model. The dress is 31 inches long and when I measured that length on myself, it came to about 3-4 inches above the knee-- which is fine. ;))

It depends on how pale the pink is. If it is very close to white, I probably wouldnt wear it. However, if it is quite obviously pink, there should be no issue (unless of course the bride is wearing pink, which is a possibility these days).
My personal rules are: No white or off-white. No sequins. No micro-minis. Nothing fire-engine red. Nothing slutty.
I generally stick with black or shades of blue, green and purple to be safe. I also once wore a nice brown dress with bronze details.

thanks for your reply kribbie! i actually ordered the dress online-- because it was selling out very quickly and it ended up being SEE THROUGH! so i didn't even have to worry about the shade of pink! I definitely think that your rules of thumb are great--I'll definitely keep them in mind. I'm actually having the hardest time in the world finding a dress--i'm going to a BCBG outlet soon, so hopefully that will change. Most BCBG dresses are appropriate looking

BCBG dresses are lovely! I'm sure you will find something great.

Your story reminds me that I should add another rule to my list:
Nothing see through.

hehe-- yeah wearing a see-through dress to a wedding is definitely a no-no! sometimes you won't even know if a dress is see-through until you photograph it with a flash-- now that's scary!
