Aqua color-too light?

I am not as educated with gems as some of the women here but I would say that the low price is equatable to the color. It's not a vivid aqua but looks very well cut with decent color (and you can't beat that price per cut weight).

Price is about right. Its not going to be terribly saturated and there's some grey present. However the cut is very nice indeed. If you really want light, it will be exactly that.

Slightly more saturated and a round. https://mastercutgems.com/Products-...-GemMedia.php?FromPage=1&ProductMediaID=36711 wee bit bigger and and 100 bucks cheaper I believe it will likely have some glow due to to inclusions, which if you don't really mind them, they can be quite helpful to the stone.

Its worth sending an email to Dana to see what he has. he doesn't put everything up all at once.

I saw that one! Has kind of a big window:( So the one I listed from LT I can't use paypal to buy and it's $55 shipping. Still waffling...

I'd pass. My reasoning: it doesn't look to be a super special aqua in terms of color and so I can imagine you can find one to your liking much closer than Sri Lanka!

What colour are you looking for? Cut is nice but the colour is so incredibly pale.

That loupetroupe cushion is very pale and seems to have a fisheye window. If you like it though, the price is fair, not cheap, but fair for the quality.

If you can't have the security of PayPal...I'd run a mile. And not look back!

I got more pics! Will post shortly.

Email and pics:

Hi Jennifer,

Here's a range of photos of the stone in different lighting conditions and in comparison to other stones.

For a quick run-through, the first five images show the stone indoors in two rooms. All are without any artificial lights and have only diffused daylight coming through windows covered by white curtains. These are simple phone images. One small note is that it looks more bluish in reality than in those - but more of that is visible in later photos.

The next two images show the stone outdoors in diffused daylight on an overcast day - again, crops of images taken with a phone.

The following two images were downsized DSLR snaps showing a range of aquamarine colors going from pale greenish on the left to turquoise-blue/blue on the right. The 3.61 falls somewhere in between but is definitely more on the blue end.

The next two images relate to your message above mentioning that you wouldn't want it to be colorless. The stone is next to a nearly colorless cubic zirconia cutting model (a modified cut used to show the cutter how to cut an actual stone) and a natural white sapphire on the right. Both of these are white but with a slight yellow undertone which is visible in the photos. The aquamarine in the middle jumps out quite a bit... So if you ever want to set this into a ring with diamonds or white sapphires, I think you'll definitely get the stone to visibly and clearly stand out from those.

So overall, that's about it. The stone actually has a pleasant, glowing soft baby blue color indoors - kind of like the first four photos but more bluish. All of these together though will hopefully give you a more accurate idea of how it actually looks.

Regards,

Not sure, maybe just the light?

I think I'd be inclined to think the picture has been edited somehow. The background colour isn't correct so can't really trust the stone colour.

The cut appears to be nice but the color is very faint. Depends on what's most important to you.

What's your budget? I recently bought an Aqua cut by Jeff White that I probably won't get around to setting for a while but I would want to recover my cost if I let it go.

A few hundred, I'm not actively looking, I just really loved this flowery cut

My thoughts;
If you love the cut and don't mind that it will be pretty darn pale then its probably worth a couple of hundred. I'd make sure about return policy though especially since its shipping from outside the country. I'm a color girl moreso than a cut girl so for me, way too pale.

But every lid has a pot right?(mostly?)

BTW, the last few images is probably law of averages with a DLSR. It has to do with the sensor. My camera can get a bit wonky in some types of lighting, so I don't think its deliberate.

the cuttttttt is calllllling meeeeeee...... BUT! I'm not messing with a wire transfer and paying that much shipping. I said no:(

I did inquire into darker specimens with the same cut. We'll see. Like I don't have enough on my plate with the cluster ring project about to start:whistle::whistle:

The original link does not work for me so I cannot comment.
Just want to say I prefer lighter colour Aquas with a hint of green than more saturated blue ones.
This is a custom cut one from Jeff White, and shall set it as a three-stone ring as shown below with a pair of custom cut pale pink Morganite traps also by JW.

The link doesn't work? I'm surprised. It works for me. Is anyone else having trouble with it? Did I do something wrong?

It was a really old thread, so the link was from a long time ago.

I agree with dk168...I like aquas with bluish green and not the darker blues. IMHO, the darker blue aquas look more like blue topaz.
