Are there different types of marquiese cut diamonds? I was talking with someone today and she said she had a ______ Marquiese. That its like a traditional marquiese just set a lot lower than most. any thoughts anyone? Also why do most marqueise from what I''ve seen tend to be very included? I haven''t seen too many in the VVS range...thanks

Marquise can have various shapes, long and thin, medium, rounded etc but I don''t know of a branded cut. There are marquise out there with good clarity, depending on where you are looking maybe some stores stock lower clarity diamonds?

ditto.

I''m guessing you are looking in local B&M stores? There is no reason that marquise would generally have lower clarity grades than other cuts, the reason is simply the stores you are looking in. If you ask to see some of their princess, round etc, chances are they may be low clarity too

it is very easy to achieve an eye clean appearance near the tips of a marq or pear shape - even down to I1

Hi Gary,

Does this mean that a pear or marquise doesn''t show inclusions as much so going to a lower clarity is possible without it being visible? (I''m thinking about getting a pear for a pendent but don''t know much about them.)

yes lop

My husband once heard a lady say that she wanted a "Grand Marquise". He took that to mean a large one. They were discussing the fact that we both liked the cut and that is what she wanted one day. And they weren't talking about cars. It's not a branded cut that I know of.

I don''t think that was it, but thanks. I want to say it starts with a D - sounds like destiny in my mind but I don''t think that''s correct..
