Are these French cut stones G colored?

In comparison to the E, what color do these diamonds appear to be?

I purchased the CVB Bailey band off loupe troop from a long time pricescoper. She claims these stones are G color. I told her that I was disappointed bc they are very tinted. She claims that CVB would never use tinted stones and that they were sold to her as G by another Pricescoper. She refuses to even consider a refund and I am now stuck with this band which IMO Is super tinted. I explicitly asked her before I purchased if the stones were indeed a G and she confirmed that they were. Well here is the band next to my E center stone. What do you guys think? Am I missing something?

I think french cuts sometimes look darker than other stones of the same color (at least that's what I have heard anecdotally). I also think the stones look dirty, so a cleaning might help.

I tried the cleaning! Soaked it!! In dawn and hot water and brushed. No change.

IMO, they do not appear yellow in the pictures, but they do appear darker (possibly as a result of the bezel or the cut).

That's how I feel. I don't think they look tinted so much as dark due to cut or setting.

This… is tough.
It’s Pricescoper to Pricescoper.
I’m sure no one chooses to be shady to each other.
If I’m viewing a listing that states ‘it was sold to me as a xx from another PS’er’ that’s about all the stock that can be put into it, no?
(I mean I’ve bought something like that and I backtracked to see the original sellers listing and thread about the item before purchase. I feel a bit slimy but what else can we do?)
And I mean, also, the original sale from the original vendor probably wasn’t lab graded for concrete proof, probably?
Your third picture, it almost looks like the metal itself is yellower than the other white metals too?
Was the listing ‘final sale’? How much stock to ‘we’ put into that?

im sorry for the disappointment - can you resell at a low loss to you? Just be out shipping?

Hi, are you seeing a yellow tint or gray?
In my experience French cuts always look metallic I.e. like a faceted version of platinum.

What size is the ring Nala? I agree that it doesn't quite match the icy whiteness or the style of your E mrb center stone, but it seems that CvB does tend to use G/VS french cuts in their bands, so I think it is correctly sold to you, and the previous owner as such. I just happen to be in the market for such a band for my G/VS1 OEC....so let's talk!

yes! that's what I was trying to explain (badly) hah

I agree that they don't look yellow to me compared to your ER. They do appear a bit "darker" but I would expect that from French cuts. I agree that they often look "metallic". Here is my GIA G color EC. And my G/H french cuts from Yoram. The FC's definitely look more gray and metallic. I think it is just the nature of the cut. IMG_4418.jpg

I would have guessed G/H based on your pics ... I don't see I color in the french cuts ... and comparing color when not the same size/cut/shape/setting is really difficult IRL let alone via images ... personally I would consider the seller to have described the FC color correctly ... I am sorry you are disappointed however.

@nala, please tell me more about the ring (size, metal type), if you’re contemplating resell, I am interested. And since we are in the same general area, the ring doesn’t even need to be shipped.

Omg! Yes! That will work for me if it works for you. I guess that I will paste the info as it was sold to me for 1150 dollars.

“CVB Inspired Designs Bailey Ring- 14k white gold, 3/4 eternity band. Has 7 french cut diamonds. Each bezeled-diamond station measures approximately 2.25mm x 3.75mm and the bands depth is approximately 2mm. purchased this pre-loved and as it is too small and I never got it sized it has never been worn by me. Seller states the diamonds were custom cut and are G color and VS clarity. Size 6.25.
It is in very good/excellent condition with no issues or chips on diamonds. Price is 1,150 which is over 50% less than what a brand new Bailey would cost with Onyx stones rather than diamonds. It is very hard to say goodbye to these French cuts. I hope who ever gets this exquisite ring wears her and loves watching those french cuts sparkle!”

Great. How do I contact you? Is your Loupe Troop user name the same? Please create a post for it and send me link. Also, since I consider you a jewelry expert, do you think it can be sized down to 5.75?

Looks like its all going to work out for the best, but i will say that Caysie will def use lower color french cuts. I requested mine to be h/i color only, and she had no problem obliging.
Its a beautiful band, wish i saw it sooner as i might've bought it. I am exactly a size 6.25, ugh! ;)

@jaysonsmom did you reach out to me on LT or is that someone else?

I posted a listing on LT. If the first two people who expressed interest passed on it, it can still be yours!

Agree, totally on this. French and Emeralds don’t sparkle like brilliant cuts and when they are small in comparison to a large brilliant they seems ‘flat’. But that’s not the same as tinted. I have a emerald and round band where I bought the stones, I know they are G color, but they stones are small and they just aren’t bright like my brilliant pear. But when I wear that same band with my emerald three stone ring, the difference isn’t as noticeable Since the three stone doesn’t sparkle like a brilliant cut.

Also would like to add i think the bezel adds to the greyness/darkness. I had a modified bailey band a few years ago, and i thought the diamonds looked dark and "flat". I had it remade into the riviere band i have now, and the diamond seem much brighter in the channel set band.

Updating this saga….I purchased this Band from Nala! And here are the pics with my G color OEC! It was my first time meeting a PSer in person, and we found out that we had a lot in common besides the love of bling.

I can’t say for sure that the stones in the band are G color or not, but subtle flashes from the french cuts match well with the bigger facets from my OEC, and I’m happy with how well they look together. Gratuitous Fire pics!
