My dress has yet to be determined, but I will be ordering a simple dress in natural white or ivory. I know it's best if you can wear the appropriate shoes during your measuring, so I've been looking at shoes for the dress. My style motto is basically "always be different", and I've found myself looking at colored shoes. I love these at Zappos-- the customer service lady told me they are actually gray colored, not the purple I see (at least on my monitor). I also think the lower heel will be much more comfortable. Are they too crazy, or are they just the right amount of different?

don''t worry about "too crazy" and just go with what you want. I shocked my siblings and mom by announcing that I was wearing my sisters brown high heeled boots underneath my dress!

I also saw a bride on Rich Bride Poor Bride wear UGGS to her wedding - ceremony and all!

It''s fun to be different

If you want grey shoes go for it! (as long as they''re comfy haha)

I am all for colored shoes!!!!
But, I wonder if you decide to go with an ivory colored dress if gray would look odd? Maybe look for shoes in a warmer color? Just my thoughts. I do like the shoes you posted though.

lsyama, I LOVE those shoes you linked!

Misysu, I don't think those shoes are even the tiniest bit crazy. The design (minus the jewels) is very, very traditional, and I don't think grey is a crazy shade to pair with a wedding dress.

Then again, that's coming from someone who's planning to satiny burnt orange shoes for her wedding

Those shoes are not crazy. If they are comfortable, wear them. I also like the fact that those shoes can be worn with many colors so you can where them with a little black dress whatever you choose.

I found these, too. They look very similar but may be more comfortable. Does anyone have any experience? What's your take on spending all day in the top pair of shoes? Should I try the flats first? I guess I'd have a better chance at wearing the flats again after the wedding- I work from home so I never have any reason to dress up.

If you are not accustomed to wearing heels, go with the flats. Both are cute. BTW, who makes both shoes and do you know what they cost?

I like the shoes. I think with Zappos you can return for a year also. Oh but I don''t think the shoes will go with a cream or off-white dress, just my opinion but I think grey works best with pure white.

The top pair are Nina Conan and are $90, and the flats are by Zigi NY and are $70.

Winternight- the dress will be white silk-- I'm going to order one and take them to the fitting and see how the color matches. Then if they don't work I'll just have to commit to the same heel height.

Love 'em! Go for it! I think I like the flats a little more than the heels. Plus, comfier.

ETA: Just looked again, actually maybe I like the heels better. Oh well, whatever, they are both great!

If you want a little height but not an angled foot, consider platforms or wedges.

you answered the question yourself. you said you "LOVED" them go for it girl its your day!! anything goes

Do you normally wear ballet flat-type shoes? I''m among the folks who find them uncomfortable for all-day wear because they have no support whatsoever.

I''ve never worn ballet flats before, because I''m strickly a sock person in general. It''s either sneakers or heels with pantyhose for me generally. I''m trying to find something comfortable because I don''t want to have to take my shoes off at the reception.

That''s a good call-- maybe I should order some and wear then for a day? Will I either love them or hate them?

Thanks for your help, ladies! I ordered the top pair! They''ll be here soon!!

Great choice. I think they will look wonderful. Some times white shoes look tacky. I love the pewter/ silver grey combo with a white gown.

Post a picture once you get them. They also will look nice with a dressy black out fit.

Thanks! I''m excited-- I think they''re exactly what I was looking for. I will post a pic when I get them-- should be early next week!

I''m a big advocate of non-traditional shoes! i wore blue sandals to my wedding and I was the ONLY one of the ladies in the wedding that did not have to change shoes or remove my shoes by the end of the evening! I got a lot of flack beforehand about my shoes, and my photographer didn''t even take a picture of them, but I loved them, and I was the one who mattered!!

My only concern about the shoes with the jewels is sometimes fabric can catch on the prongs that hold the jewels on. Just be sure to check that before the wedding day! You don''t want to trip because your dress is caught on your shoes.

That is a GREAT tip, sumbirde! As a person who wears tennis shoes with her dress trousers, this is much appreciated! I bought them early so I can wear them while they measure me for ordering, so I will check it to make sure it doesn''t catch!
