Hi, everyone!!

I went to meet a photographer and he told me that at his wedding he had a steel drum band play for his guests while he and his wife had their pictrues taken after the ceremony. That prompted me to ask...

~ Are you having (or did you have) entertainment during your cocktail hour?
~ Do you have any ideas for any unique entertainment?
~ Did you have entertainment during dinner?

I think it''s a cool idea but jsut wanted to know if anyone was doing it too or did it. If you did it... how did it turn out? Any regrets?

I dunno. I had an MC. I think she was entertaining the crowd while we went table to table to take pics. Btw the ceremony and reception, then no. There was food and I think they just hung out.

The DJ/MC will be there, but that''s b/c the cocktail hour will be in the reception ballroom (the food will be in an atrium adjacent to the ballroom) and they''ll have food and free booze during the cocktail hour. I think they''ll be entertained with that haha.

We had a steel pan player at our coctail reception.

we are having a band play for both. same band.

recommend taking the pictures before the wedding

We just had our DJ play.. We were there for most of the cocktail hour anyway.. I considered having our string quartet from teh ceremony, but we decided it was not really worth it.. people weren''t gonna just sit there and watch them.. So we just had the DJ play.. and it was fine.. Most people mingled around outside anyway.. I don''t think anyone would have noticed any entertainment

Our ceremony & reception is being held in the same place. So, we're just having the harpist that's playing at the ceremony stick around for about 45 minutes afterwards (while we're taking pics), and play during the antipasto & wine pre-reception (we're getting married at a winery). She'll depart while guests are making their way into the barrel room for dinner.

We have a friend who's acting as our DJ/MC, and he'll play a CD of "dinner music" that I compiled.

ChargerGrrl, you are getting married in a winery?!? That is awesome!! We want to have a "wine themed" wedding. There aren''t many wineries here in Orlando so we are going to try to recreate or give the impression of one. If you don''t mind, I would love to bounce ideas off you or hear what you are doing.

We are having a DJ play soft music from the time guest start to arrive until after dinner, when the music will then switch to some more uptemple for the rest of the night. PARTY! PARTY! PARTY!

We are having a pianist for the cocktail hour!

Ladykemma, why do you suggest taking the pics prior to the wedding? Do you mean b/f the reception?

Also, I think we are having a band play during our cocktail hour, which is when we are planning tohave photos taken.

We had the ceremony harpist play during the cocktail hour, and then had a dinner music soundtrack playing off a CD while we had dinner.

we had a guitarist for the ceremony, but we took pics after that... dunnos how long he stayed. for the reception/cocktail hour we just had the DJ play songs I selected, plus whatever he felt like. I wanted to hire the guitarist for the cocktail hour too, but DH said it was overkill...

Certainly! Our wedding isn''t totally wine-themed, but we''re definiately incorporating wine into it- our favorite hobby! Let me know how I can help.
