Hello,

I ordered this diamond
Screen Shot 5373006291.png

with the following specifications:

Ct. 0.46, Color G, Clarity VS1
Table: 57%
Depth: 61.5%
Pavillon: 40.6
Crown: 35.5
GIA 3x (5373006291)

When I looked at it personally today under a 10x magnifier the arrows were not visible, very similarly to the effect in the following picture (it is not the same stone, just taken as an example):
shallow_looking_diamond.jpg

The jewelier ensured that this depended on the poor lighting of the shop, but this did not convince me 100%. I tried making more light using the flash of my smartphone, but nothing: the arrows did not appear as black as I was expecting.

So my questions are:

1. Is it possible that the pattern looks in real life so much different from the video? I am a newbie, so any opinion is well accepted!
2. General opinion about the diamond in the first picture?

Thanks a lot :)

You usually do not see the arrows under most light conditions. Photos from the vendor are done in lighting conditions to show you the arrows. Try putting an empty t.p. tube over your diamond, or just use a piece of paper rolled into a tube, and you should be able to see them. I also sometimes just cup my hand around the diamond to see the arrows.

Take a picture with a black cell phone from a close distance to mimic the first photo.
The majority of the time to arrows are going to be silvery to bright.
Does it have an inscription listed on the report?
If so verify it just to be sure.

Thanks a lot for the quick answer. For the photo, I will ask the Juwelier to make it (I did not take the diamond with me today).

As regards the inscription, they (actually a sales lady) told me that it is not visible with 10x magnification, but that their team verified the authenticity when the stone came in. Then she showed me the certificate.

Btw, any opinion on the stone itself? Already bought it (it did not go otherwise...), but maybe I could use some constructive advice for the next time.

Thanks again!

The specs are fine and the picture doesnt show any major issues.
