For sale is this original 1930's Diamond Melee Watch by Hamilton. It is 14K white gold. VERY BLINGY! The band is approximately 6 1/2 inches in circumference. $499 plus shipping. I will allow returns for PS peeps in the US only.

It is manual wind and it runs. However, it looses about 5 minutes per 24 hour period.

You can wear this as a watch, or, I've seen these repurposed into bracelets by inserting a jewel into the watch face. This would make a very blingy bracelet!

Here are the pics:

I've counted and there are 73 individual diamonds in this watch. I do not know the total carat weight. They look to be an older cut (perhaps transitional?)

I’m potentially interested. How big is the watch face/opening....trying to estimate how big of a stone would I need for the conversion.

It is most likely a 10mm square opening.
This is my conversion using a jade earring. It is likely the same size as mine. Oh and I still have the other earring !

Hi there! The watch opening is 10mm square.

My other conversion was more expensive. I had an insert made and the tourmaline then claw set into the insert.387B23AD-1810-42C4-B2EF-65BACD797A9A.jpegC793D514-E286-413B-9623-F117BEF1CF8A.jpeg

Your pieces are GORGEOUS! Thanks for posting, vey inspiring!

Hi @Bron357 so glad you posted. I love your conversions and have been looking on EBay for potential candidates and ummm hence my interest in this beautiful option. Does something get set into the hole where the winder is placed? Or is there just a hole? Just reread your post...same size...still have the other earring.....lonely earring...

Perhaps you could place a tiny gem or diamond in the hole where the winder was?

That is a good idea. I guess it depends on what type of insert I would use I guess...if a gemstone I would need it to match...

With my “expensive” conversion the jeweller filled in the hole but I can still remove the back case if I want to.
With the jade piece conversion, it was a DIY job.
The jade square is exactly 10mm and exactly fitted in the space so I just got a piece of rigid clear plastic, cut it to be slightly bigger than the open space and super glued the jade piece to the plastic. Inserted in from behind and to keep it in the space I just “packed in” some cling wrap behind (wear the movement went) and popped the back case on. So this on still has a wee hole..
IF you want the jade square, let me know.
If you do a DIY job like me, keep the watch movement and watch Face plastic (it will just pop out with a bit of pressure) and you can always put the movement back in!

I'm wondering if it is possible to make it into an changeable bracelet--with multiple inserts...since the back still opens on yours, do you think that would be possible? I saved this photo and like it, but might not want black all the time:

I don’t see why not. The only issue might be the expense!

If you want to copy my DIY method, eBay has 10mm square Onyx pieces (3) for $10!75D19B89-FB68-42F4-9C55-07E3ACF8B715.jpeg

True, but maybe I could start out with plain inserts then move to adding stones..... Off to search the internet for 10X10 stones.....LOL looks like you are reading my mind...

Do you have your earring listed for sale somewhere?

The jade square is free, I have no use for it. Just shipping. I can do a Loupe Troop Listing.
