Artisan vs designer vs premium designer?

How do you determine who falls into what category when it comes to smaller names like Maytal Hannah, Steven Kirsch, CVB, Sako, Leon Mege, etc?

A long car ride home has me curious.

I have no answer to your question, but I have a question.
Do you want designer to work with you to suit your style and taste?
Or do you want a designer to show what the best designers do or are acclaimed for?

I'd probably go by the price..."premium" to me would be what I can't afford

I see LM as premium, but his designs are all pretty common - your typical halos, 5 stones, 3 stones, and solitaires. Premium because of the hand forging and maybe the quality / cut of the diamonds.

I see CvB as very artistic and unique, maybe because she tend to lean into more vintage designs and I don't see those out in real life as much. I wish there were more designers like CvB.
