Figured as long as I'm re-addicted to PS and totally absorbed by my wedding planning (the latest obsessions sucking away my time with ridiculous research are river rocks as escort cards/favors and an upscale bowling alley for the rehearsal dinner), I might as well show you all my dresses.
There are 2 things that I would love to hear from you about.
First, I'm having trouble figuring out what to ask for as a bouquet for myself or the BMs. We are an October wedding with a park theme.
Second, I am totally lost on what to do for a veil. The dress has a lot of similarities to some Madeline Vionnet designs from the 1930s, but I don't want to go too costumey (I vetoed mom's idea of a pillbox hat, which is more 50's anyway). So what do you think? Birdcage of some kind? I don't *have* to be veiled for the ceremony but I think I should have some nod to that tradition. It need not cover my face. Any thoughts??

PS -- I will not be wearing a noose with the dress a la the model below.

In case the colors are hard to see, the BM dresses are espresso with champagne.

Bright reds (like the black magic roses) and dark chocolate reds (SUPER dark callas) I have pics at home for your bouquet iwth ivory ribbon. Solid ivory again ivory roses and ivory mini callas for the girls with DARK ribbon. Exact opposites.

I just wanted to comment that your dress was one of the dresses that I had on my list for the longest time! I decided to go in a completely different direction. Have you tried it on yet? It''s really gorgeous and definitely has a vintagey-vibe. In fact, my future MIL said that the dress looked very similar to hers when she got married in the 70''s.

As far as veils go, I think a birdcage one would look lovely. I think that the dress has such a unique and pretty back, so I think you might want to show it off.

Good luck!

SuLi -- I''ve tried it on 3 times now, and still love it. Mine is already in -- it only took 6 weeks. This was the very first dress I liked on my first, impromptu dress-shopping trip. I still tried on plenty of dresses, but came back to this one. I decided early on that I wanted more of an evening gown look, and I didn''t find anything else I liked as much (and most of the others I tried on were also twice as expensive!). It is definitely different, and it doesn''t look like much on the hanger. I was horrified by the bow on the hanger, but when I tried it on it actually camoflauges my rather large (not so much wide, but more bubble-ish) bottom. I have rather wide shoulders, too, and a small waist, so it all balances out rather nicely with the various details (IMHO).

Not hiding the back of the dress is one of the reasons I am hesitant to do a traditional veil. I have no idea where to look for birdcages where I can try them on. I''ve found a few sites online that look good, but I have no idea how I"ll know what they will look like on me.

Gypsy -- thanks for the ideas for flowers. I am probably going to work in some dark brown lilys, though I''m somewhat prejudiced against having red roses at the wedding. I''m trying to do more of a fall color scheme. Mom is wearing irridescent brown (it is a ballgown and I''m not a huge fan, but she didn''t exactly consult me -- I think that''s payback for me actually making decisions on my own about the wedding, how dare I). Grandma is wearing copper. I''m just not sure I want to go towards reds with those colors in the mix.

I think your dress is beautiful! I agree that a birdcage would be so fitting for that dress. I love the back of it.

OMG, I absolutely LOVE your dress!!!

Enbcfsobe,

That wedding dress if fantastic! Would you mind telling me where your bm dresses are from?

Enbcfsobe, your dress is gor-geous! who is the designer?

ETA : i vote no veil

I am not the most creative with flowers and I love the ideas above, but I just wanted to say I LOVE your dress!! It is gorgeous and so unique!

Thanks all for the lovely compliments.

My dress is from Nicole Miller.
Below is another pic that shows the front. This is me in my red carpet pose. I need to get the right undergarments for this dress or it will look a lumpy mess!

The BM dresses are last season''s Ann Taylor Celebrations. I got them off the rack for around 70% off plus another 20% coupon. The price was absolutely obscene. I was quite pleased with myself, especally since I wanted the dresses to be brown or green. And I am a big fan of how the double-v neckline echoes my dress. While on one hand I''m concerned about the dark dresses since we will be in a dark room (planetarium), I know the girls will all be much more comfortable in a dark color since it is much more flattering and we have a variety of shapes and sizes.

PS -- Gypsy, I didn''t mean my comments about your suggestions to sound harsh! I think some of my frustration at trying to do something that is both elegant and different was coming out just a bit. Please excuse!

duh. here''s the referenced pic.

The dress looks AMAZING on you!!!! Much better than when it was one me!

Two of the reasons I changed my mind were the bow (I just thought it was too big and overwhelmed me since I''m petite) and I felt that I did not have enough "boob" to confidently carry it off!

I''m sooooo excited for you! You really look beautiful! I can''t wait to see what kind of veil you choose for it! Good luck!
