Which is the next stone that faces up large as well?

I believe ovals face up bigger than RBs, as do marquise (if I remember correctly)

Edit. Heres the link I was referring to. Scroll down a bit to see a graph of relative face up size of different shapes.

Top 4 are: marquise, trillion, pear, round.

I never thought ovals looked all that big but marquise and pears arthe mor common shapes that do.

for a more interesting shape- I’m always shocked by how big trillions look.

You are completely right, and i was wrong about ovals.

No I don’t think you’re wrong necessarily people do say that face up large but I just always found in my experience I was underwhelmed by the size.

Somehow to my eye ovals face up bigger than equivalent rounds, but I think that has to do with the LxW. Pears and marquis are definitely bigger than rounds, though to me pears face up bigger than marquis.

I think for ovals, pears, and marquise there is a combination of bigger face-up area, plus an optical illusion of appearing larger due to the elongated shape (which is more subjective). Diamdb suggests that pears and ovals face up 9% larger than MRBs of the same weight, whereas marquise cuts face up 15% larger than carat-equivalent MRBs. The cut of the specific stone is a factor, as some stones have less depth and are thus spreadier.

Pears & marquise face up largest.

In general, ovals of the same carat weight as rounds do face up larger, as well as marquise and pears. (I've done a lot of comparisons
via diamdb.) I think we all have our own perceptions though. Some of the fatter ovals that have better light return may not
be all that larger than a RB.

My 1.08 ct pear looks like it’s larger than my 1.01 round but it’s more like it’s more elongated and then the rounded part looks slightly larger than the round. Side by side the pear “appears” larger but not by much.
