Hi step cut enthusiasts and experts

I have this diamond reserved for me and paid for, but not yet shipped:

Here is the video:

I just received the ASET image:

I would love to get feedback on the likelihood of this asscher having great light performance. This would be an international purchase and I need to be 95% confident that this is going to knock my socks off in person before I would be ready to have it shipped out to me.

I have been looking for "the one" for some years now, and I'm looking for a cut cornered square step cut rather than the more modern style square emerald cut with smaller corners. Im also looking for a small table and steep crown, and this asscher certainly delivers on all these criteria, with a 58% table, and having a depth of only 66% it faces up large for the carat weight. But will it be as bright and fiery with minimal leakage as I am hoping for?

leakage is white so not much of it a bit mixed with green.
blue and black are obstruction its to far in the scope.
It is what I expected from the pic. no suprises other than what was caused by the placement.
I think it has potentual..

This is getting exciting! Can we learn the specs, color, size, etc.?

Thanks Karl. Your expertise on step cuts is always appreciated! I have decided to go ahead with the stone and will update soon with pics.

Its H VS2 1.74cts. I'm really pleased with the face up size for the carat weight, especially as asschers are notoriously bottom-heavy. 6.98mm x 6.78mm. :) It has a really steep crown, 3 pavilion steps and 58% table, 66.4% depth.

I will post photos once I receive it.

WooHOO! My 1.77 Asscher is 6.8 something by 6.7 something - yours is very spready! Mine might have a bit of a tummy control issue.
I stared at mine for 4 months wondering if I'd made a huge mistake, then I took it to a really good goldsmith in Milwaukee to set with baguettes on the side. He didn't like the L color, he misplaced it, I finally got it 4 months after later kite-set not compass-set as I requested. I put it on, and I could barely breathe the whole way home. It's so lovely.
I hope you have as many wonderful surprises with yours.

Thank you. I have my fingers crossed that this one gives me a positive surprise! :D How annoying for you though, that your jeweller treated your new treasure with such a lack of respect! You obviously love your stone which is great, how do you feel about your setting now, given that its not what you asked for? Are you going to have it re-done or do you love the unexpected setting as well?

No, I love it. He cast it twice, both editions were porous so he sent it to Unique Castings of NY. The baguettes are wonderful and he tucked 4 melee stones into the base of the prongs (after telling me NO initially) . Jerry looks like a pirate but he's stinkin' good at what he does.

It sounds amazing! Would you do me the honour of posting a pic? I would love to see it. It seems a fair exchange as I promise to post mine when it arrives :D

Huge frustration trying to send a photo that I can see in my ailing computer. If this comes up as junk, I apologize.

Just sent a box of fuzz with a ring inside and an old woman with an unpleasant six-toed cat. The cat's ginger and the Asscher is an L.

That is beautiful! (and I love the fluffy toes too :D) I would never have thought that was an L colour! The kite set orientation is really striking. I bet you get loads of compliments on your ring.

You're very kind! I knew squat about diamonds when I bought it, I chose it because it looked nice and regular and the photo was so butt-ugly - khaki - that I figured there must be something to it. There's some logic. Like thinking your cat is more valuable because he has extra toes . . .
As I said, the kite-set was an accident and I'm sure my face fell when I opened the box, but in 15 min. I loved it. Have you any thoughts about how you might set your Asscher? Everyone here is hoping it looks as good as the photos. And how could it not with that ASET? I think the small table is going to be amazing. All its numbers are amazing.

Well it looks like you chose really well with your asscher, and with your kitty too.... makes him all the more unique, and special :D

I'm trying not to make too many plans for this stone in case its not the full ticket and has to be returned, but in my more optimistic moments I've been thinking of using step cut side accents, maybe something like one of these:

It seems you and I have similar taste. Baguettes, step-cut traps, wow. I've lusted after French cuts and Peruzzi cuts as well. I get lost in Yoram's website. And Leon Mege. I love everything you have pictured above.
What I wanted originally and couldn't afford was a halo of baguettes. I'm not about "cover your whole finger" but holy balls, the presence.
