Hi,

new here and need some advice on an asscher diamond I am considering. Rated as 5.04 carats, m color (shows like k per seller), vs2 with excellent polish and very good symmetr. Very good cut. Anyone know how much a stone like this would go for?
Thanks much!

It’s so hard to tell from the Photos, but from the photos I am not impressed with the cut.

Do you have any of the dimensions or a video?

it looks like a M to me.

Is that a lab grown or a natural? cert?

Natural -- here's the cert. trying to figure out how to embed a video. LOL.248577850_1580711325600509_3114645864528203451_n.jpg

Your getting some real good advise in this thread.

I have a K and an M and I think this stone looks more K. It struck me as kind of "meh," but I'm not an expert. The people you heard from above are.
If you can afford a 5 ct., consider getting the best cut 3 - 4 ct you can find instead. The best cuts look bigger and the joy and beauty of a really good cut will be far more satisfying in the long run. Oh geez, that's big vs. OMG is that gorgeous.

72.7% is way too deep. You are losing face up size by a lot.

I say pass and keep looking. A better one is out there.

it L/w is 1.05 so it’s slightly elongated

thanks -- here's more photos vs a 1.7 and 3 carat oval w/ J coloringIMG_0147.jpegIMG_0148.jpeg

Well, I think I have some of my asscher videos on my IG which is yatcube (but IG cuts videos weird so that is why it goes off the center of the screen).

I still don’t feel like this is an acceptable asscher for cut and light return. If it’s in the 35k range, there is a reason why it’s cheap. But, I also admit asschers have to be seen in person and evaluated under all light conditions to see for yourself.

Are you able to go see it to see if it makes your heart sing?

it looks pretty dead in the photos, but photos are not a great way to assess an asscher.

Ask the seller for a video of the stones performance in the sun-
Ask the seller for a video of the stones performance against a white sheet of paper

$35k isn't "cheap" no matter what anyone says, it's not a drop in the bucket. I think it's a beautiful stone but if it doesn't perform because of a lot of dead zones you're going to be very unhappy post purchase.

Seeing it on your hand further emphasizes my observation that it's not cut very well. I only see three "lively" facets at a time, a wide band of dead-zone running vertically through the center, and the rest of the facets just kind of being there without adding much.

* “cheap” for a 5 carat asscher whose dimensions are more like a 4.8 carat but as I keep saying, it’s hard to evaluate an asscher other than in person
