I wonder whether you might be able to help out a random stranger on the internet!

I'm researching engagement rings for my partner and came across your 3 stone diamond ring on this thread. To me it looks perfect, especially in the first photo with the diamond wedding band, and is exactly what I had envisaged for her ring.

Would you be so kind as to share the diameters/ratio of the stones? Also do you have any other photos? I'd be really interested in seeing the profile view of the ring and a top down view of where the band meets the diamonds.

Thank you so much in advance and apologies if my request is not appropriate, I just had to ask!

Kind regards

Adam

Hi @AdamW

@Logan Sapphire had 2 different 3 stone rings. The first had a 5.88, .77ct center stone, with .83ctw sides. The sides were 57% of the ctw of the center stone.

However, at the end of 2013 she upgraded to a 1.2 center, tho kept the same sides. SO if you like the proportions, you'll need to look at the date on the post to work out which one it is. for her later ring, her sides are 35% of the ctw of the center stone.

I love all her rings and her taste is wonderful! I hope this helps. :)

Hi mrs-b

Thank you for your reply. It's the first version that I really like. Do you know what the diameters of the stones were? I'm hoping too, if Logan Sapphire sees this thread that she might have some pictures of the ring's profile.

Kind regards

Adam

Hello- Mrs-b actually remembers more about those rings than I do! (Thank you, mrs-b!)

Ring #1 had a 5.8mm center stone and the sides were around 4.7 or 4.8mm each. I no longer have the ring, so no current pictures to share, but it was a trellis setting just like the Vatche version (http://dvatche.com/index.php?page=collection&catID=3,11&startRow=138&id=144&alt=1).

I'll see if I can find any pics of the profile.

Ugh! I wrote this last night and forgot to hit enter! Here's what I wrote.....

The diameter of the center stone was 5.8mm. The diameter of the sides would have been the normal diameter of .42 ct stones. If you go to Blue Nile, or James Allen online, look up stones of that size, and you'll quickly work out their normal size. I believe 40 pts is normally roughly 4.75, give or take .05mm, so 42pts would be a tiny bit wider. But do your due diligence on this and go take a look to be certain.

If you want to find the normal dimensions of a well cut stone of any size, I normally go to Blue Nile, enter the cut function as 'Astor Ideal' - which is their best, signature cut, and enter the size of the stone I'm trying to calculate - in this case 42 pts. You can go to James Allen and do the same; their best cut is called True Hearts. You can go to White Flash and do the same, using ACA as their best cut. And so on. You can probably assume Logan Sapphire's stones were well cut, so will be reflective of stones that are ideally cut - like the Astor Ideal, True Hearts, or ACA. So take a look on these sites; I think you'll find the .42's are between 4.8mm and 4.85mm.

That's fantastic. Thank you both very much!

Also thanks for those ideal cuts references, I've never bought a diamond before so this is useful information to know.

Kind regards

Adam
