Hey everyone...I''m not a BIW yet (still a LIW) but I am the MOH for my best friend''s wedding and am looking for ideas for her bachelorette party.

There will be between 11 and 12 girls there. We are starting with a backyard BBQ at one of the girl''s houses (it''s an OOT wedding for most of us, so it is at the house of the one girl who is local). I want to do some fun/traditional shower games then for two reasons: a) she hasn''t been given a shower yet (not one of her family traditions), and b) there are two ''jr.'' bridesmaids who won''t be able to go out dancing etc after.

After dinner, the ''older'' girls will head downtown to do something fun.

Sooo...

1. Any suggestions on games that are fun and that will give a ''sense'' of being shower-esque?

2. As far as dancing etc afterwards, do you think we should just do the regular bar/club scene, or should we do something themed, like go to a country/western bar or karaoke?

3. What do you guys think of all the guests wearing matching shirts/tank tops? Would the non-bridal party women feel out of place if their shirts didn''t say "bridesmaid'' or whatever? Or should they all wear the same colour with no reference to bridal party?

4. Any thing else you''ve experienced that has been successful that doesn''t involve strippers!

Thanks in advance for any help you can give!

I went to the Comedy Store on Sunset Blv with a group about that size and took up the first row...Robin Williams, Richard Pryor and Andrew Dice Clay all came out to test out some new stuff (they were not on the bill) and it was a blast.

Oooh...that is a good idea. I will take a look to see if there is anything like that in her city! Thanks!

The Clothes pin game: Every guest gets a clothes pin. Set a word that is "Off limits" for the duration of the shower. If you catch another guest using that word, you get to take her clothes pin. (Actually, my friends and I usually buy some form of plastic necklaces to use in place of clothes pins). The winner is whoever has the most at the end of the party, and she usually gets a small prize.

I would ask the bride what her preference is. I have been to lots of parties at bars, and they are always fun. For one party I attended, we had a deck of "party cards." Each had a task and a point value, and it was fun. Tasks included: Get the bar tender to give you a free drink, get a guy to take off his boxers (one did...in the middle of the street. We figured he''d have at least gone into the bathroom to do it). Get a guy to sing for you. Write a love note to the cutest guy in the bar. There were a few that involved kissing, so we let the single gals field those. You could always make your own cards.

T shirts are cute. I have seen some that say: Team Bachelorette or Team Bride. That way No one had to worry about feeling left out. At several parties I have gone to we have worn buttons or name tags that say something to the effect of: I''m with the Bride or something.

BUT, my favorite form of dress was what we did at my party. We all wore cute dresses or skirts out. That way everyone felt super cute and comfortable.

1. Games: the toilet paper wedding dress game is usually fun and leads to some laughs. We did a pin the penis on the hunk game at a bachelorette party (we drew our own penises, which was as funny as the game). You could do a more PG version if you have younger guests. If there are gifts, you can still do the standard bridal shower bow bouquet.

2. What kind of bar: definitely ask the bride what she''d like best. Some girls love karaoke, some love dancing--do what would be the most fun for her.

3. Matching: personally, I think matching tshirts/outfits is a little over the top, but some girls love it. The last bachelorette party I went to we all wore cute skirts/dresses and the bride had a "bride" sash and all the girls wore leis. That made us recognizable as a group, and helped us recognize each other (some had just met that night). I wouldn''t single out just the bridal party--do something for everyone.

4. Other thoughts: I''ve done a nice restaurant with wine/martini type drinks for a girl who wasn''t into the bar scene, and a beach club with lots of frozen drinks and dancing for a girl who didnt want a smoky beer filled night. Penis themed things can be fun for some girls, mortifying for others. What is your bride (and the group of girls) like. What would they enjoy (or hate)?

The toilet paper wedding dress game is always a blast. Folks get really into it...and it''s just silly!

As for a club...I''d find the cheesiest place you can...although karaoke might be fun...what is the Bride into? Line dancing? Then I''d say a country/western bar, ya know?

As for the matching clothes...I don''t know...I think it might be kind of weird...I do like the "team bride" idea though. That''s clever! And I like the idea of leis even more!

I had a blast at my bachelorette party.

Here are some of the things we did at mine.

1. Everyone got nametags that hung on mardi gras beads. They were naughty nicknames that we made up and the nametag was on a happy faced "phallic symbol."

2. We played "guess what''s in the bag" and passed them around the dinner table at the restaurant. The person with the most correct answers won a prize. Examples of things in the bags were a cucumber, zuccini, huge eggplant, toys, jar of vaseline, an unwrapped condom, etc. That game was hilarious when you saw the looks on everyone''s faces when they reached into the bags!

3. Then we went to a bar/casino. We had one person in charge of the prize which were different colored jelly bracelets. Then there were "dares" that we had to do to to earn the bracelets. One was dance with a bald guy, kiss someone, etc (similar to Fancy605''s game)

4. Best of all, one of my bridesmaids made me a phallic happy face cake. We took a bunch of blackmail pictures with it!

I laugh everytime I think of that night. It was a blast!

Of course this was in 1990, but still, it was a hoot. We had the front row and Dice kept talking to me and my friends when he found out we were a bachelorette group...we first had dinner at an awesome restaurant on Robertson and then caravanned to the Comedy Store.

1. Ooh I like the clothes pin game! It''s semi-traditional without being too stuffy...and it could extend into the night quite well!!

2. I also think that card game thing would work really well...it would be nice to have all of the girls take part in the ''challenges'' so the bride doesn''t have to do anything truly scandalous (not her style) and it would be pretty funny!

3. I think using "team bride" is a great idea...you are right, no one would feel left out that way...but I think you may be on to something with the cute dresses/skirts...at the end of the day I want everyone to feel beautiful/hot - not embarassed and tacky or anything...

Thank you sooo much for the suggestions! I will definitely use them!

I''ve never done the toilet paper dress thing!! That is hilarious! I''ll add that to the list :-) I''ll probably stay away from the phallic games during the shower because of the young girls...

I''ll definitely put some more thought into what the bride would like...I want it to be fun and crazy, but not embarassing! I want it to be girlie and fun, but not something that she can''t tell her hubby about later (well...most of it anyways :-)
