Well, it looks like Macy''s worked quite fast. Altough they told me it would be ready by the end of September when I ordered it in June, I was told yesterday that I could pick it up assuming no adjustments would be made on. But I''m a little nervous about that because, I may have changes in my weight by my wedding date even if the dress fits me perfectly at the moment. Then whom will I bring it to for alterations? And secondly, I live with my FI and our apt is too small in NYC, I don''t have an appropriate place to keep my dress in. Would Macy''s hold on to my dress until September?

Thanks for all the suggestions. I''ll talk to Macy''s people after getting your opinions.

Hmm, I would be honest w/ the people at Macy''s and see what they say. If they won''t hold it for you, maybe they''ll let you bring it back for fittings closer to your wedding date. Use the argument that you expected a couple more months before it would be ready. Do you have any relatives nearby who would stash it for you if you have to take it home?

Hi lady; no, unfortunately not, I don''t have any relatives around. You are right about that, I will definitely ask them to hold it until October. I hope they won''t request any fee for that. Otherwise, I will have to hang it behind the bedroom door which both of us will be facing every day.

ask macy's to hold it--i'm sure they'll be fine with that..

there are many, many places for alterations in nyc at all kinds of price ranges. do some research as to who you'd like to use and then contact them to ask what kind of timing they'd need for last minute alterations. they maybe you can drop it off there for measurements and ask them to store it as well. before you know it, it'll be late august...

Apparently Federated announced today that it will be closing some of its Macy's stores.

Even if the store you bought your dress at won't be among them, it might be safest to pick up your dress sooner rather than later, and find someplace else to store it... just in case!

oh, i haven''t heard about that before. I should be cautious.

well, my dress will be there for a while. it looks like the manufacturer shipped it to Macy''s without shortening the length. I tried it on, it was a little loose, even though it is my that time of month when i am always fuller. so, they will shorten it first and then will call for alterations. hopefully, they won''t ruin the dress.
