I’m ba-a-ck and slowly readjusting to reality - also known as crummy Canadian weather :p
I just want to recap the highs and lows of our Tuscan adventure! The first week was spend with both families in the Villa, and then my now-husband and I travelled around Italy and Sicily for 2.5 weeks. What a dream come true!!
Lows included:
˚ One and a half day before the wedding, the church told us that they’d “lost” or never received all of our marriage documents and therefore could not marry us. A few frantic and VERY expensive LD phone calls to Toronto (and the longest FAX Italy had ever received), the church had in its possession all the requirements. You can imagine the cold sweats I had that Tuesday night!!!!
˚ I suffered a massive allergic reaction the day of my wedding, and by the end of the night couldn’t open my eyes (nothing says sexy like a blind bride). As much as I’d like to claim the moist eyes in the pictures are from emotions, they are most likely just Italian hay fever. Ha!
Highs!!
˚ Thrusday August 9, 2007.
˚ 45 family and friends in one magical Villa! “Villa Erbaia” in Barberino di Mugello, Florence Italy.
˚ During the wedding ceremony, the local ladies went home to get rice (Arborio no doubt) so that we could be showered in rice upon our exit from the church. What a surprise that was for us!!
˚ During the reception in the villa, a hummingbird flew in and landed on Steve’s boutonnière and suckled for about 3 seconds before flying out again. – CRAZY!
˚ The catering and the food were unbelievable! All fresh Tuscan dishes – with seconds offered of each course – what a treat!
˚ MY MOM handmade my dress including each hand-sewed bead and applique. A-mazing!
