My bff was asking me about reception cards earlier today and I told her I''d look at some of the ones I''ve saved. I pulled out my old roommate''s invitation and saw that only my name was on the inner envelope...that means I was one of those guests who just assumed I got to bring a date! OMG! I feel so stupid

. The wedding was 2 years ago and she was the first of my friends to get married. I guess I just didn''t know that only the people on the inner envelope were invited? At least it was FI that I brought...woops...

Anyone else realizing past faux pas now that you''re the bride?

Ohhhh, Robbie, you are not alone. When I was in college and a few years after before I started attending a lot of weddings, I hadn''t a clue as to proper wedding guest etiquette, trust me. I think most people who have little to no experience going to weddings or planning one don''t realize all the etiquette that is involved unless they''re specifically told. Hmmmm....thinking of examples...

Probably the best one I can come up with is refusing to buy a gift from the registry, whether it was for an engagement party, bridal shower, or wedding...for some reason I was so against doing that and thought I would trump all gifts by doing something original. As soon as I registered for my own wedding, however, I actually began to realize the importance of the registry, and I felt like a total idiot about past gifts I''d given, even if they were creative and heartfelt.

Also, several weddings I was "the guest" I went to, we ended up skipping the wedding and going straight to the reception...I feel terrible looking back on that now, like we couldn''t muster up enough energy to spend a couple hours sharing in the couple''s ceremony/happiness before we went to the reception and ate and drank all there was to offer? Yeah, faux pas big time. Ah well, live and learn...

this is going way back, but the dumbest thing i ever did at a wedding was when i was IN my sister''s wedding ( i was 10), and had no clue that the bouquet toss was for the women and the garter toss was men only.
To me both things were great fun- so after the bouquet toss i went right back out for the garter toss-
everytime i see the photos of all those guys and lil'' ol me out there in my pink dress i cringe!

my family was probably too busy partying to notice or care!

funnier- i wonder what would have happened if i''d caught the garter?

Labbie, that''s adorable.

At my dad''s second wedding (the first after my mom) my brother and I got up to all kinds of no good. I seem to remember us bringing people drinks but putting olives and tabasco sauce in them. I mean, in rums and coke, champagne, you name it. I was, I think 6 and my brother was 8. We thought this was HILARIOUS.

OH! NAUGHTY NAUGHTY CHILDREN.

We had a good time though.

Hahahahah! OMG IG I just about killed myself laughing when I read that. Love it! Sounds like something I would have thought was funny at 8!!
