Hello!

I want to get my friend''s new baby a present. I''m considering a loose birthstone. But at the same time, I like the idea of a bangle she can wear as she gets older. Silver or gold or white gold.

Can you all point me in the right direction?

Hey Gypsy,
What a nice idea. You might try www.rosssimons.com or www.fortunoff.com or just google baby bangle bracelets and see what comes up. My daughter was given one, loved it and wore it for a few years. I think yellow gold or gold filled would be best. But that''s just me.

I like these so far because they engravable on the inside (I want to put her full name on it and her birthdate) and gold (thanks Kaleigh) and very simple and elegant.

I really wanted something from Tiffany, but well... I didn't see any baby bling on there.

My DD married a Greek guy (et al.) and when their daughter was born, his mom insisted that she have and wear an adjustable bracelet in either 18k or 22k gold which was put on very soon after her birth. I thought that it would really bother Chloe, but she adjusted to it very quickly. Start ''em young, I thought, but said nothing. In the Greek culture, this wearing of the bracelet is in honour of a saint (Anthony?) who will protect Chloe''s health and wealth forever. Anyway, she has now grown out of all the available adjustments, and the bracelet is being kept for her first child(?). I''m not sure how that works.

Chloe, now seven, is a diva (at least in her own mind) and for our last Mother''s Day celebration, wore a glitzy raincoat complete with a tiara!. Her adoring aunts travel the world and bring her all kinds of beautiful things from wherever they were. She loves it!!! Who wouldn''t???

My culture also has babies wear adjustable bangles in 22kt or 24kt gold. Silver is also acceptable. However, no matter how adjustable it is, they do outgrow them by school age. Unfortunately, I haven''t seen any around here. Sorry.

http://www.loveivy.com/scpt/main/item_page.php?code=cblmar-KO119 I think this is the winner. I like getting her a bangle with one diamond on it. Start her early indeed.

I had many bangles when I was a child, all high carat gold. When I was an infant I had a plain 22K one. Then later on I got ones that were slightly larger in high carat gold with enamel designs. I loved them. I couldn't find anything in 18K online though, which would have been my preference. But... at least this one has a diamond in it. A little bit of bling for the princess. She's adorable.

Isabel... you Chloe reminds me of myself when I was a child. I loved bling, and everyone gave it to me when they gave me presents. She sounds precious. I never had a tiara though. I do admit to wanting one now... to wear grocery shopping or while cleaning, of course.

I love the idea of a bangle with a diamond for a little girl!!

ETA: Chloe wouldn't have left home to come for Mother's Day unless she was allowed to wear it. Her parents choose their complaints wisely so this was a go; I think everyone there handled it well except our other granddaughter who's five years older and thought it was a bit "over the top", but she kept her lips zipped, thank goodness.

LOL a 'bit over the top' huh? Well, maybe... but still adorable.

Yeah, I've been looking for 18K bangles and cannot seem to find any from US vendors so I think the diamond bangle is going to be it. There's this one too which is more delicate... but it's adjustable. And has a heart-- which could snag or something? So I'm not sure.

Which one of these two do you all with Baby and Child experience prefer? http://www.loveivy.com/scpt/main/item_page.php?code=cblmar-KO114
