Before Christmas!!!

Last night in bed my boyfriend and I were talking as we kind of drifted to sleep, and I was asking him what he might want for Christmas. We were discussing various options, and then he said "do you think maybe we should tone down our gift giving to each other?" and I asked why, and he said because my family doesn''t give very flashy gifts, so it just looks kind of weird when I get a fancy new cell phone (what we have already decided he''s going to get me) PLUS I''ll have my engagement ring by then. So I''m like WHAT WHAT????? And his face just froze as he realized what he said and I started dancing around going "You slipped up! You slipped up!!!"

Of course, our deadline is the end of the year and he already bought the ring, so it''s not THAT much of a surprise, buuuut still very very very cool.

Especially since I was already 90% sure he would propose during the week that we''re upstate (Dec. 23 to Jan. 2) and I was really really hoping he did it before the majority of my family leaves on Dec. 26 so I have more people to show it off to.

I cannot belieeeeeeeeeve how soon it''s going to be!!!!!!!

It''s starting to feel really REAL!!!!

Makes my gift sound so crappy now, especially since I want a ring too!! Just kidding, honestly, congrats!! That''s sooo great! Must be the in bed conversations, last night my BF brought up a cell phone for my x-mas gift, AND that he had some "ideas" on pieces for a ring for me. I was like, Pieces? And then I told him that if he DOES create a ring from scratch, it will take a long time.. Hint hint hint... start NOW, fool!

Hehe, Amber, the sad thing is, I still am really excited about getting my new phone!

But yeah, I had to do the early ingraining thing too...back like a year ago when he first started openly saying he wanted to get engaged just not quite yet, I kept pointing out it could take a REALLY LONG TIME so you better start doing some research and get cracking NOW so that by the time you DO feel ready, you have a ring.

It took him many months to internalize that, but I think it did help him to think of it that way, realizing that you don''t have to be ready to actually pop the question RIGHT THIS SECOND in order to start ring shopping. And then by the time he was ring shopping I think he got excited about the idea and felt more ready to propose just because he''d been ring shopping already...it''s all circular I think.

Anchor - LESS THAN A MONTH OH MY GOD!!!!!!

Amber - hehe, I was considering a Razr b/c they''re sooo cute (not hot pink though

) but I think I''m going to go with a flip phone (or maybe the rotaty or slidy 2 part phones?) and focus on fun features. I gave my boyfriend a phone last year for his birthday and he has sooooooo many things on it that I want, so I''m basically requesting this so I can compete with him in the cool-things-my-phone-can-do department. I think I''m going to just let him research (since he loves reading little techy articles anyway) and have him tell me which 2 or 3 phones are "the best" in his opinion and I''ll pick one of those. Probably based on how cool it looks.

My current phone is really old though, and doesn''t have a camera phone, any games, IM capabilities, internet anything, so pretty much anything I get will be a super fun upgrade.

More importantly.........by the time I get the new phone.....I''LL BE ENGAGED!!!!

Ha ha ha. You can use your new phone to gloat to everyone about your stellar ring!! Lucky!! My phone sucks so hard. I dropped a couple of times, and now the back battery cover thing falls off, and the freakin'' thing hangs up on people five times in a conversation!! I NEED a new one. BF realized that when I had to call him back 3 times in a 5 minute conversation.

Kitten Update: just passed the little screening test for the adoption place, and we''re going to go look at kittens tomorrow!!!!

Man, this is like the best day EVER! Getting a kitten tomorrow, a phone for Christmas, and an engagement ring sometime in the middle!
