Best friends engagement...

This weekend I get the call from my best friend that she was engaged! (It happened Saturday night) I am so happy for her, she's even asked me to be her maid of honor. Deep down I am a little upset that her boyfriend did it before mine... considering my bf and I have been together twice as long... and we are older.... This is such a terrible thing for me to feel because its such wonderful news, and I need to stop thinking so selfishly....

Thanks for letting me vent (the one person I would normally vent to is her... and it's not appropriate... haha)
When she was sharing the news she said, "you need to get your boyfriend to hurry up so we can plan our wedding's together..." First of all it doesn't work like that...thanks for rubbing it in my face that he hasn't yet

its ok!! I'm going through the same thing! Now we really arent best friend anymore because of her superior attitude she has towards me Ive been with my bf for almost 5 years and she has been with her bf which is my Bf's cousin since dec of last year. In your case I dont think she meant it in a bad way to rub it in ur face, but I know it can come across it. My bestest friend in the world is getting engaged this month and she is trying her hardest not to make me feel uncomfortable with it. Sometimes we have to put our situation and feelings aside and be supportive no matter how much we wish it was us and not them lol.

Aw, sorry to hear that, hunny. I'm sure your friend didn't mean it in a rub-it-in-your-face kind of way. I know a lot of us feel the same way and have had friends get engaged, married, and have babies in much less time than we have been with our SO. *sigh*
