Best Precision Cuts for Colored Gemstones?

I'm trying to educate myself on precision cuts. Is the precision cut really unique for every cutter? Can someone list some precision cut names/types, with pictures/examples, and tell me about the pros and cons of the different precision cuts out there?

I think I see Portuguese mentioned pretty often, and concave round. How many other different cuts are there?

Hi there,
there are thousend of different cuts out there. Precision cut means normally that the cutting has been done with perfect meetpoints (the points where the facets meet) and ideal angles to get best reflections.
Also the polish, which is one of the important parts, is normally better then in commercial cut. Commercial cutting does (often) retain more weight of a rough stone, but does not watch symmetry or perfect cut, as they have to finish fast. You can see from very worse cutting to great master cutter nearly everything on the market. But if you train your eye a little bit, you will see very easy the differences.
For your questions: Yes some cutter have unique cuts they don´t share in public and plenty of other cutters do share there cutting instructions for these cuts. If you want to search some, you can have a look here e.g.:
