OK.....the gem is a 6.5-7 mm spinel cushion. It's a darker blue with grey (of course) and isn't a valuable stone on it's own, but it does sparkle plenty! So......I'm looking at setting it in a simple halo (for contrast) or sterling filigree ring. I thought I remembered some vendors being recommended in the past, but can't find them now. Yes, I looked at the vendor list.....but I think there are some others that aren't on there. Any referrals for cost savings?

I was going to say Ivy and Rose too. Your stone sounds pretty! We'd love to see pics.

Thanks!! I'll check out Ivy and Rose........I'll get a picture with daylight tomorrow.........I'm notoriously bad with gem pic's and this was a substitute from the vendor so no pic on hand from them either!

What are the exact dimensions? If it's close to calibrated stone sizes say 7x 6, you can check ready made mountings and have the prongs closed at your nearest jeweler. That's the cheapest way. Should work for + or - .2mm.

I found the gem paper and it lists as 6.5 x 6.3 x4.7 so calibrated at 6.5 should work.

It's a pretty, soulful color, very ethereal. Nice choice!

Pretty stone, can't wait to see what setting you decide on for it.

It's really a lovely color and size! It will be a beautiful ring when set!

Thanks all for the kind words about the stone.........this poor guy has been sitting for years so it's time to start looking for a 'home' for him. Will check the vendors........
