I think getting older is causing my face to become oily for some reason. It''s only noticeable to me and it''s not too bad (other than the occasional break out), but I''d like to find a product that will dry my face a bit. Any ideas? I don''t wear makeup, so that''s not what is causing this. I hate using a bunch of stuff on my face, so I don''t use lotions, etc. often. I''m not picky when it comes to choosing soap, so maybe I''m just not choosing the right type. Maybe I should look more carefully...

Thanks in advance!

i've been using this Avon clearskin facial cleanser when I shower, seems to dry it a bit, helps me a little with my break out. I don't like to change product too much and I've been using this for a couple of years, but I dont use it everyday though. just when I feel very oily greasy or when I have breakouts and I have combo skin and don't think its that rough although I do wear lotion everday on my face though

Thanks for the recommendation D&T!

I just had a professional facial (my first one!) and the aesthetician told me to stop using soap on my face (I wash with Dove Sensitive Skin). She said it's drying, which in turn makes oily skin oilier.

I just ordered a line from Aubrey Organics for combo/oily skin that got good reviews. It should be here today, so if you're still looking in a week, I'll let you know how I like it (if you're interested)!

HI:

Two of my sisters swear by the yellow bar soap by Clinique. If memory serves, my derm recommends Dove or Cetaphil or Duscan.

I used this for about a year and i remembered it working well back in the days pre college days.

I use Clean & Clear Acne cleanser. I use it after I wash my face with my regular Lancome milky cleanser. The C&C is very effective, and is suitable to use daily without overdrying my skin. I have not had breakout since I started using it.

Lush Coalface... but it depends on how oily! If you don''t want to rub the grit on your face, you can rub it on your hands, then your face.

Best of all? Find a location, go in, and ask for a sample. THEY ARE FREE! :D

I just started using this stuff my cosmetician recommended by BioLine (Italy). It''s their Pureskin line and it''s amazing. All natural ingredients and fruity acids which really help control my oily skin.

i use cetaphil for oily skin. i like that it''s gentle, non-drying and leaves my skin feeling clean.
i''ve tried a whole plethora of products. lots were too irritating and ended up leaving my skin more oily.

I thought of another one that I used, and it comes in both bar and liquid (which is what I would buy) PURPOSE facial cleanser, works wonders. My Dr. also recommended this to me once before. In fact I think I might have to go back to it now...lol I've been very oily recently this past couple of months

There are a couple that are excellent - I like Clinique''s Liquid Facial Soap for Combination/Oily Skin, Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel, or DDF Blemish Control Cleanser if you''re having blemishes. Of the 3, the Dermalogica is the mildest, but it''s also much more expensive (around $30) than the Clinique. The Clinique is only around $12. A previous poster mentioned Purpose - that''s an excellent drugstore brand.

I like the Clinique cleansing foam. It helps with the oil but isn''t too drying.

I use the Clinique yellow bar soap and love it. I have an asian friend with REALLY oily skin who used to suffer from horrible acne, and Clinique products do WONDERS for her. Looking at her now, you'd never know she's acne-prone. I think she uses the 3-step with antibacterial soap and steps 2 and 3 for oily skin.

ETA: I now use the Clinique yellow bar with my Clarisonic facial brush (gift from hubby). LOOOOOOVE that thing!
