Ladies,
Since there is soooo much knowledge here, I thought i''d seek some help. Although my 1st ring style choice is antique, I also like this style:
http://www.bluenile.com/product_details.asp?oid=5109&page=1&show_all_pages=1&col=1&row=36&pos=106&set_shape=

Of course, if I had any idea how to link a page, I would do so...sorry in advance!

The above ring is listed as Prong Set Diamond Setting w/Matching Band. But the problem is, the price seems high to me. I wonder if anyone knows a cheaper place to buy. I obviously have time but i''m just looking around, thinking about choices. I''m also not 100% sure on what I like but the one above sure seems pretty to me so far.

Thanks!

Are you looking to buy both the ring AND the band?

Probably shouldn''t be responding to myself, but what the heck.

I just found this one that I like too. Does the band seem thinner than the first? If so, I think I prefer that but can''t really tell what the differences are. I''m thinking the center stone would be around .75 ct?

Amy, this is the exact same setting I have for my radiant, except mine only has eight diamonds on the side, not 10.! I got it at Robbins Bros, and paid 895.00 for it, without the matching band. I''m getting mine from Facets, I think. Do you want platinum, or WG? WF is changing the head on mine, so keep that in mind, they said it wouldn''t work for a radiant L/W ratio like mine. :)

EBree,
I have no idea. It kind of seems worthwhile to buy them together, since I would want something to match. But not sure what the overall consensus on buying together is.

I would think, then, that the BN price is pretty good for what you're getting (both bands). Keep in mind though, the set you linked to is platinum. If you wouldn't mind white gold, the price would dip.

Here's another set I'd probably choose over the BN set....Signed Pieces has an excellent reputation here:

Amber,
I''m also not sure about WG vs. Platinum. Based on my knowledge from PS, I''m leaning toward Platinum. You are getting your band from Facets? How come you decided to buy separately? Your radiant is beautiful, btw! I saw it earlier in your thread. I think I like the round but undecided.
As you can see, i''m not exactly decided on anything! There is so, so much to choose from.

Amy, I think I decided to go separate because I don''t like Robbins Bros. policy, and I totally like the facets collection, and would have bought my e-ring setting there, if I had looked. I think I can find something better for cheaper elsewhere, and who knows, I may want something bigger than what is matched with my e-ring, ya know? And I love what EBree posted.

EBree, is your reason for choosing the other due to reputation? I like the one you linked a lot also.
For several reasons. One, since they''re around the same price, I noticed the SP set has more carat weight. The SP set also uses only premium cut or ideal cut diamonds. I''m not sure about the diamond melee used in the BN set.

I''m sure they''re both beautiful, though. PSers have settings from both Blue Nile AND Signed Pieces and both get pretty good reviews!

I forgot to add, the reason I chose the e-ring that I chose because I like how the ring has a cathedral type setting, how it looks with the prongs sitting lower in the setting, instead of on the band, like the facets one. Does that make sense? I didn't want the tiffany-type prongs on a setting, I wanted the contour setting, but with side diamonds.. I'm lame. Like this setting, but with the prong set diamonds along the band...

Amber,

Which WR are you looking at from Facets? I'm thinking about buying my wedding ring from them as well. I'm just wondering if it'd look right (a shared-prong band with a bead-set e-ring!).

ETA: I'd have a WR to match, but I'm afraid my short fingers would be overwhelmed by two bands the size of my e-ring band. Everything I try on swallows the bottom of my finger!

ETA2: Sorry for the hijack!

Emily, I WANT this one... but will I get it? Doubtful. Since my band is also RB like yours, maybe a RB wouldn''t look so bad..

Amy, it seems like most of us are getting our WR apart from when we get the e-ring. Look at it this way, it''s seems doubtful the WR will stop being made when you need to get it, so get the E-ring, and then get the WR if you still want that one. I''d say that with what you''re looking for, you could find a ton of WR that would fit with your e-ring. And if you still have trouble, we could look together.

Amber,
Do you have a pic posted of your ering? I am a bit confused abt the difference. And hey, that''s not lame! You should get what you want. It does make sense to buy separately. The initial reason I thought about buying together is b/c for an antique ring, I imagine it would be harder to find something to match at a different location, given their uniqueness (um, not sure if that''s a word). But for this type of ring, makes sense to wait. I also think I might want the w-ring a bit thinner than the e-ring.
EBree, do you have pics of what you like?

Shoot, I do somewhere on here. You can click on my name, and look under topics I''ve posted.. It should be there...

I found it! It is very similar. Now, i''m looking fwd to trying it on and seeing if I can find an even better price. I am still pretty hesitant about buying online but so many people here do so it makes it seem ok. I just know I would want to try on that exact style before buying online. I think that will be my problem w/finding something antique. Who knows if I will like it once trying it on.
Thanks again!

Amy, I was all set to go and try on the solitaire settings. Once I did, I was like. "Oh."

So not me, and I tried my setting on and it was like, "I just found MY ring." Which is why we bought it there, because I was so afraid they''d not have it if we came back. I love it because it''s slim, but still has the glimmer. AND, it was in my size!! Good luck with trying on everything (which you really have to do- tell your BF that!!
