Ok friends, for those of you who know about my stone buying drama of last week, I want to offer an update. I could not be any happier today. I am sincerely joyful, humbled, grateful and I don't even know what else. Amazed maybe??? I know the decisions I made this week are the perfect ones for me and I know I will NEVER regret what I have purchased this week.

I will save the best news for last:

1) I am having my 3.05 transition cut round diamond set in a simple thin 18 kt rose gold tiffany style mounting. I returned the custom rg/plat setting I had made which turned out poorly and the (2) 1 carat RB diamonds. Since I have discovered how much I love WELL-CUT colored stones, I'd rather limit my diamond blingage to this one diamond and focus my resources on fine CS.

2) I obtained the imperial topaz from Roger and it is a real stunner in my eyes. As expected, the cut is magnificent. The color is the perfect peach for me. I attached a photo I took of the stone this morning to this string. The other imp topaz I had purchased (with the large window) was removed from my mounting and returned.

3) Drum roll please.....................

Here's my big news..........

My holy grail of all holy grails. A stone I never ever thought I would be able to have but WANTED in the worst way..............

Ready?????

See the 2nd photo I posted of "Ginger" the MINT GARNET. This stone also came from Roger and I am SO PROUD to own it. I am still pinching myself. I audibly gasped when I first saw her and I had tears for a totally different reason from last week.

My oldest daughter, Victoria ("Vicky") named the stone Ginger because she said it is so beautiful it must have been the love of Roger's life. I told her the love of Roger's life was probably his wife, Ginger. She said, fine then, let's name the stone Ginger. I have never named another of my gemstones and I doubt I will again, but this lady deserves a name.

I am SO HAPPY!!! Please know this is genuine excitement and not bragging. If it comes off as bragging, please forgive me. Know this purchase is a once in a lifetime event for me. I doubt I'll ever find a stone I love as much as Ginger again.

THANK YOU ROGER DERY!!!!

Congratulations on the beautiful stones. I love that mint garnet! It looks so sparkly.

Vicky: I have been watching that honker of a mint for a long time. On so many levels, you did a great thing! 1) you're helping to support one of the vendors who I hold in the highest regard; 2) you have gotten a record breaking size for a mint garnet and the rare factor alone on the size makes it impressive; 3) the rough cuts beautiful stones (I have at least one of the smaller sibling of your stone); and 4) his cutting is fabulous. There. Phew. That was a lot to say. And I loved your reaction when you saw it - I can only imagine :o Now hand shots please!

Great job...I am so impressed you took all the advice everyone gave you and returned that big brown Topaz.

Taking the ER down a few notches by making it a solitaire (which that center stone deserves IMO) allowed you to own one of the most coveted Garnets around...and its awesome to see how much you love it. Who wouldn't?!

Also happy that you took a chance on Rogers Imperial Topaz that I/We liked...it is SO much nicer than the last one you had.

All in all, I am very impressed at the stones you went with as opposed to the extra diamonds you had with the ER. Awesome.

Thanks Minous! I feel so good about these purchases. I had a terrible stomach ache last week and I was full of regret. Now, I am just excited. I am glad I toned down my diamonds in favor of having this mint. I will be proud to pass it to my daughter some day. I hope (once I recover financially ha ha) I will do business with Roger again. I know he is the real deal and his work is beyond perfect. I tried my best to get a hand shot for you. I used an iPhone, so it is what it is.

Thanks Chris and everyone else for the guidance and advice. You guys were totally right and I am grateful that I put aside my stubborn/impatient ways to get what I really wanted. I am in your debt! ;))

HOLY COW that's a honkin' trillion!!! WOW!! Vickygigi, both your new acquisitions are GORGEOUS!! I'm so happy that you are this excited - its infectious - we'll all be so excited now!!

Great job and both are spectacular --- bring on the settings!! Can't wait to see what they will become

Congrats on all your wonderful news!! :appl: :appl: :appl:

I have loved that mint garnet on Roger's site and been watching it and longing for it for quite awhile. So glad it went to a PSer so I can see "Ginger" from time to time. Enjoy!! Any plans to set her?

Thank hun! I can't stop smiling and staring at these new stones. It is hard to believe I get to keep them!!! Re. settings, here is what I am thinking for the mint. It is (to me) a show stopper. Like my ER setting will be, I want to go simple with the setting for the mint. I am thinking of an 18 kt rose gold tiffany style solitaire for it too. I want the stone to be front and center and I do love the look of mint and rose gold.

I will set the imp topaz in the same mounting the other stone was in. It is a white gold ring with 2 EC diamonds on either side of the center.

Thoughts???

YUM!!! Both sound awesome!!! DId you see the trillion in the braided RG a few weeks ago? It was beautiful in the RG and the setting was so unique. I can not remember who's it was (don't be offended, owner of that ring, because I mess up my kids names all the time... and I KNOW them!)

And the Topaz going back to your original setting you just posted - yes - that will be GORGEOUS!! This is a FAR superior stone to the original one you had in there. What about the prongs --- wasn't there an issue with them??? (again - memory is not my strong suit... :nono: )

Wow GORGEOUS! Both the imperial topaz and especially the mint!!

(I know you said you weren't bragging, but WOW as far as I am concerned you have the right to brag about that one! ;) Especially after the unhappiness of last week -- so glad everything is turning out well!)

Enerchi -

Pretty good memory actually!

For the imp topaz setting, the gold work (including the prongs) was beautiful. I had no issue with that. I will have to swap out the head to fit this new stone though. The issue with the prongs was on the custom ER setting I had made which has been returned. It was so so sloppy!

I did see the mint trillion in the braid setting. In fact, I saved a photo of it (below). I hope the owner won't mind me posting it again. The only reason I am thinking Tiffany style instead is because I see myself wearing this ring on my left hand with my thin (1.7 mm) rose gold Tiffany wedding bands. The other setting wouldn't be flush. I do have a grey trillion spinel that I might set in a style like the braided one some day. Settings will have to wait a bit. This kid is now poor! ha ha

I also hope the owner of the mint pictured below won't mind if I copycat her setting idea with my grey spinel. Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, right? :wavey: :wavey:

Thanks! If I were Roger, I'd be bragging b/c he cut that mint and it is perfect! :appl:

Wowee, that is a honker! It is sooo huge! It is great when persistence pays off, huh?

I think I'm missing something though - are the two rose gold rings you mentioned the ones in the photo - which I actually thought were yellow gold, lol? And you'll sit which ring as a RHR with your rose gold bands, the grey spinel, or the mint? Sorry, lost the train of thought there.

The 2 rose gold rings are my wedding bands. The color in the photo is off - SORRY!

I will interchange the mint and my diamond ER on my left hand. That's why I will set Ginger (my mint) in a Tiffany style solitaire setting like my diamond.

I will set the grey spinel trillion in a rose gold mounting for my right hand and I am considering the braid style like the other lady used for her mint.

Sorry if I am unclear. I blame the excitement!

I am so happy to hear of this happy ending.

I get it now! That is going to be a large solitaire, and I know I probably don't need to say this, but be careful with it. :)) :saint:

As for the confusion - I think it was not lack of clarity (hah, hah, get it - clarity?) by you, as much as the muddled mind on my end!

Oh, and of course, the mint solitaire will look great with the two rose gold wedding bands - do I have it right now? :praise:

Yes, sometimes I'll wear my diamond and sometimes the garnet on my left hand. I will be very careful with both!!! :twirl:

You did FABULOUS! What a happy ending to a very tragic story. You couldn't have gone to a better guy than Roger -- he makes everybody happy.

I drooled over that mint garnet too, for ages, & tried to persuade myself to become a trillion person, but it will look wonderful with your w-rings! Love the Imperial too -- SO much better than its predecessor!

Congratulations. :appl: :appl:

Thanks Laurie!

If it helps, I love trillions, so I find this stone to be just perfect for me. I am also very happy you guys convinced me to return the other imp topaz. The one I have now is wonderful. Roger surely does make people happy, doesn't he??? :D

?Gorgeous! I've seen and lusted after that mint garnet in person. It's truly stunning. I agree that a stone like that doesn't need much embellishment from the setting.
