Hello!
I am in search of an antique style, bezel setting for a ring. I would like the shank to be yellow gold, engraved with a leaf motif if possible, with the bezel in platinum or white gold, and maybe milgraining around the bezel.
No pave, no extra diamonds if possible, etc...
Problem is I''ve seen several but they are all custom jobs. Prices have ranged anywhere from $1150-$2750 for this type of setting. My MIL has a ring like this but hers is an authentic antique with an OEC (or OMC, not sure). I may have to post a pic sometime of hers. It''s quite lovely.
I''d love to find something like this in a stock setting so I wouldn''t have to pay for it to be custom made. I''m sure a good chunk of the price is for the custom part. The $1150 at first seemed expensive to me, but seems pretty reasonable now. I don''t know what the price of gold is but I know platinum is very high. The $2750 for example was very delicate, not a lot of gold, not heavy, but it would have been a custom repro of an antique setting thus the price.
If anyone knows of anything like this, pls. let me know. I am also open to the idea of an octagon shaped white gold or platinum around the diamond with prongs, if that makes sense. I''m not crazy about shipping the diamond out either to have it set and would prefer to buy the setting and have a local jeweler set the stone.
Any ideas would be great! Thanks!

Is your stone an antique stone or a new modern cut stone?

Your mention of the octagonal bezel setting made me think of the eBay vendor Blufoxx Creations. They do reproductions of antique filigree and engraved settings. I have seen someone on PS mention them before as a reliable source. Here''s a link to their round settings: Blufoxx on eBay. They list their settings by stone diameter and shape, so that''s helpful.

I believe it''s an OEC but not 100% sure. I will be having it appraised sometime this summer or fall. It was my grandmother''s engagement ring and she gave it to me a couple months ago. I believe it to be .90 (she said) but it looks smaller to me, maybe because it''s cut deeper than the modern cut stones. She told me it would look nice in a cocktail ring (?) but I don''t think so. Apparently back in the day those were very popular.
I am very happy to receive it obviously and will be interested in the appraisal!
She definately wants me to wear it and get some use out of it. It was just sitting in her safe deposit box so she figured she''d give to me now and see me enjoy it rather than have me inherit it later.

I"m at work now but will check this out later. Thank you!

Please post a photo of your MIL''s ring. It sounds pretty. Is it from the Edwardian period? Most rings that style were white gold or platinum.
