Bezel necklace always walks around my neck

Just wondering if anyone might have an answer for a "walking" necklace. The diamond always ends up an inch or so to the right or left. It has a heavy lobster clasp. The necklace was custom made with an 18" built in ring and 20" end ring. Either way I hook it, it walks around my neck. I love the necklace, but it annoys the dickens out of me. Would a lighter clasp fix it? Any ideas would be welcome. thanks :)

I am sorry to say that it will not help to use a lighter clasp.

The walking is a function of fixing the pendant on a set location on the chain and not allowing gravity to help the pendant slide on the chain to the lowest point. Never have I sold such a piece without receiving the complaint of "walking" so years ago I started selling them only after counseling my clients that they would not be happy. There have been only one or two in the past fifteen years, and they eventually ended up having me reset their pendants.

I am guessing that it has something to do with neck hairs but have never had the audacity to ask one of my clients to shave her neck when wearing such a pendant, finding it more politically safe to just not sell the darn things.

Gahhhhh, I'll have to reset it again, or maybe add a "normal" bail on one end and reconfigure it.

Thank so much for the explanation Wink! Rasam-frasam on the dern thing.
I paid 400 for the bezel and chain (I had the diamond). I would not have wasted my money and would have gone on in a traditional route.

You are a wise man, Hehehehehe

Live and learn.

The solution is a much heavier diamond.

Short of that, have the pendant slide on the chain and it will not do that(or at least mine doesn't).

Sliding on a chain is the answer. I had a 4 ct amethyst that "walked" up my clients neck, not as far as the lighter stones, but definitely not hanging in the proper position.

I will have the pendant fixed appropriately - but the "bigger diamond" sounds like more fun.

HAHAHAHAHA....Noooooo, I can't wait to get my perfectly sized chunky old cushion. In that halo it will be plenty for me.

This little necklace diamond is a little...ummm...modest at .25 tho :) I may decide to sell and upgrade.

I have the sliding "doughnut" bezel and every morning it is always with the clasp up against the bezel. It's a half carat. I've just learned to live with it and turn it around while I'm brushing my teeth. I know it's going to be there at that position.

That amethyst of yours sure isn't of modest size -- and were it in a pendant, I bet it wouldn't walk! :D

Hi - I don't post often (because my rocks are more like pebbles compared to others here) but i have a bezel diamond pendant that actually behaves. I got it from Brian Gavin last summer. It's their standard bezel with a .32 diamond that I picked out. The chain is an 18 inch but I got another loop at 17 to shorten it. The weight of the bezel seems to keep it centered and upright on my neck. It sure isn't the weight of the stone. ;))

Allowing too. Does it walk every time you check it, or is just unruly in the morning? I could deal with a 50% in place rate.

Molly...hahaha, that amethyst as a pendant could put an eye out.

DogMom...Thanks for jumping in. I am thinking about taking it back and having them add looks in the back...like Brian G's Beverly setting. I appreciate the feedback and so happy to hear your stone is well behaved. I love the look, just aggravated by gravity. But then again, at 50ish...gravity and I have our issues anyhow LOL
