EEK! I had posted on the LIW list thread that the BF and I were custom designing a ring... well, there had been some personal problems with the family friend who was to make it, and I had pretty much let the issue drop.
Well, I guess NOT bringing up the ring was the right way to go, because BF scheduled to have coffee with my dad! BF frequently leaves his email up on a computer we both use, and an email popped up to confirm a Wednesday or Thursday meeting!
The only reason he would have a private coffee date with my dad would be to talk engagement... my parents are very old-school/conservative, and had already expressed that they would like BF to ask for their blessing prior to proposing. (Makes my feminist self bristle, but I know they see it as a sentiment of goodwill rather than ''permission'' from them.)
Anyway, I didn''t read further into the email -- very proud of myself for that one
