Hi everyone!

So I thought I would share what we''re doing at work since I''m pretty excited about!.

We are playing "The Biggest Loser" in order to get ourselves motivated and get fit!. We formed five different teams with about 8 people each...we have a team captain and have to decide on a name (in my team we''re still undecided between The Shrinkers and The Combaters).

We have a huge scale at work in the back entrance (for the trucks or something) so we were all able to weigh-in as a team (since some people didn''t want to share their weight).

In order to make it fair, we all had to say how far off (% wise) we were from our ideal weight. This way we could make the teams even (same average % in each team). So yesterday we weighed in for the first time, and will weigh in every week for six weeks!...and the winner will be the team with the highest % weight loss.

In my case I''m already on what''s considered my ideal weight, but I would like to lose like 4 pounds and get into an exercise routine...but this serves as great motivation!. It''s too funny because everyone is talking diets and exercise now and we can see what we are each eating at lucnh time....so no cheating!...of course you could always bring donuts for the other teams...hehe

Anyone else doing this at work?. I''ve heard of other people doing it and everyone loved it!

that is SUCH a good idea! :O!
i wish i could motivate myself a bit more.. something like that would maybe help! wow!

hahaha is there any prize in the end for the winning team?

At first we wanted everyone to put in $10, but because of company policies we can''t do anything monetary...sowe are trying to get creative...maybe do some sort of a trophee or something.

The other thing is that the teams or people that wish to conitnue on after the 6 weeks, will continue.

I''m my team''s captain and I sent them all an excel spreadsheet to help them keep track or their weight, measurements, exercise routine, etc. It will map out their weight loss which I always think is motivating!. I also suggested they took pictures of themselves now and again later in six weeks (you know, the non-flatering typical weight loss ad kind) so they can see the difference after six weeks.

One team is "The Feather weights"..hehehe. Everyone is so motivated, it''s great! plus you know if someone in your team catches you cheating they will be all over you!....the only rule is that they can only choose a healthy weight loss plan (no diet pills, etc).

i''ve done this with work too. however, since we were a smaller office we competed against each other instead of teams. the first time around, we each put in $10 and the winner got the pot. the second time, the prize was sushi. sounds silly though. it was suppose to be bought for just the winner, but it turned into the whole office!

is there a way that the prize could be a day off of work-or something like that?

A bunch of us friends just did it for fun. It went for 7 months and every three weeks we''d weigh in. The winner got away without putting anything in the kitty that week, but everyone else had to put in $10. It was a nice pile of dough at the end for the winner to take. The winner also got dinner at his choice of restaurant (kind of a funny prize for a diet, but I was the only girl out of a bunch of guys who were doing it, and that''s what they wanted.) We had an excel sheet too...so it was helpful to see the loss. I really didn''t get into it until the last couple of months, which is a bummer because I could have been the biggest loser if I had really applied myself...I should have read the PS workout thread sooner! And yes, it was calculated by greatest percentage lost.

One of our friends who weighed 282 lost nearly 30 pounds. Healthy loss at a pound a week.

BTW, when we did our weigh ins, we gathered at someone''s home to do it (rotating). It was funny that the guys would starve all day to get the lowest weight, then we''d have a dinner party and let a little loose before getting into the next three weeks of working out. It was actually nice to have a break from all the dieting and have a dinner party every three weeks!
