We can rebuild it. We have the technology. We have the capability to build the world's first bionic ring. Circe's ring will be that ring. Better than it was before. Better, stronger, shinier.

So, I had a mishap with my beloved anniversary ring early back in February: I took it to a jeweler to have a prong built up, and let's just say that ... things deteriorated. Things like my ring.

Happily, after a lot of stress, I finally took the poor mangled thing that the ring had become to my usual custom guy, and he brought it back to life. And, wow, as much as I adored the original, I have to tip my hat to him for improving on perfection (well, one prong shy of it, anyway).

Seriously, check it out. You can see my finger reflecting in the metal, it's so shiny.

What I love about it, I think, is that he didn't try to make it a copy of an actual vintage ring, because ... well ... all too often, they just wind up looking like poor shadows of themselves. Instead, this is like some great marriage of vintage shapes with modern lines - it's got that deco geometry working in conjunction with the curvy, chunky, modern swoopy prongs. I LOVE IT.

Now, I dropped my ring off with the first jeweler on February 1st.

I got it back on my hand in wearable condition Monday.

So I'm sure you're not surprised that I had to drown my sorrows in something shiny in the meantime.

(Also, I had a birthday.)

So! Platinum and ruby eternity band, vintage, British, somewhere around four carats plus, if I remember arightly.

I like it. It's very ... red.

P.S. - featured with my french-cut band, 2.85 carats, give or take.

P.P.S. - No, I don't wear them together, bands + anniversary ring. But I knew somebody would ask.

P.P.P.S. - I know I said this already in my scroll-length thread in RT. But you know what I love about my custom guy? His attention to detail. Seriously, check out how the table is perfectly aligned with the prongs! Internal geometry! I know, I'm a geek.

P.P.P.P.S. - A geek who is now going to go and admire her rings some more. Wheeeeeeeee!

Sooooo spectacular! Your bench did a super fantastic job and really improved on the overall appearance! I can't believe that incredible high polish!! It's just perfect, Circe, and both your bands are amazing! I'm in love w your ruby one...

Enjoy and so glad it all ended "happily ever after"

I liked the original, I LOOOOVE the bionic version. I think I like the curved lines the best. It still has the beautiful clean lines, just more feminine :wink2:
What are you taking your pics with BTW?

Oh, do I have to actually write something? What is there not to love? The high crown profile, antique setting, the entire package is fantastic.

I just happened upon your rocky talk thread about the whole drawn out, dramatic process yesterday. I was shocked and mortified for you that you ONLY JUST got it back!

I'm so glad for you that you have your ring back, looking better than ever. It's simply marvelous! Your bench is great!

So happy your ring debacle had a happy ending! It's stunning!

LOVE the ruby band too, yum!

It is perfection Circe. Totally worth fighting for and waiting for and probably stressing about while you waited for it. I love the strong, yet feminine lines and the polish is amazing! Your bench did a terrific job! And that little "tide me over" ruby band is delicious!! :lickout: Many congrats to you!!

So pleased that it turned out perfectly for you Circe. Gorgeous ring, gorgeous bands for a gorgeous woman! Happy belated birthday and may you wear your bionic ring in health and happiness!!!

everything is just

Oh... My... It is beautiful. And him lining up the table with the setting? Fabulous!
And the new band is stunning too. Makes for a very lovely set :appl:

Lemonade out of a lemon...love the result too! ....and your french cut band...and the rubies. Thanks for posting the pics.

It's ALL gorgeous yumminess! I know I WOULD wear the 2 bands together. What I love about stackers is you can adjust on day-to-day basis; there definitely situations where I would rock all the rings together. Do you have a picture that's real life perspective vs. up close? LOVE the reset!!

Thank you so much, Enerchi! No kidding about the the "happy ending" - sign me up for a refreshed ring over a glass slipper ANY day of the week. :naughty:

Thank you Vinjewels! That's it exactly! I am using a positively ANCIENT Sony Cyber-Shot (seriously, it's at least seven years old), but I feel like my whole world changed the second I got a simple tripod. It makes taking good pictures SO MUCH EASIER. It's called a Joby.

Thanks, Manderz! In the grand scheme of things, I know that three months isn't so long and it's just a ring, etc., etc., but it's really amazing how much it got me down while it was happening. On the other hand, now I APPRECIATE my ring.

Thanks, Missy! I actually took myself out to a celebratory lunch to admire it in proper lighting.

I'm not crazy, I swear. But I did that when I picked it up initially, because I was 7 months pregnant, and, man, that appraiser's visit lasted longer than I would have thought possible ... and then I did it when I picked it up post (unsuccessful) refurb ... and it felt like I needed to round out the cycle when I got it this time!

The ring is a good New Yorker. It celebrates with Chinese food.

Alex, I know! It's such a little thing, and yet ... it's one of those tiny finishing touches that makes all the difference. Like hospital corners on a hotel bed. :praise:

Heheheh - I might, if it didn't get a little crowded on there! It's funny, though - now that I have it back, I'm in that "honeymoon" phase where I just want to wear it alone to admire it properly. Makes me feel a little bad for all those eternities going unloved! I'll snap a RL shot this afternoon. In the meantime, though ....

The joys of geometry. I love how the line of the lower half lines up with the point of the gallery, I love the detailing and high polish on the underside of the shank ... the works.

::happy sigh::

Your ring looks absolutely amazing, Circe! You're so lucky to have someone talented nearby! Also love the ruby ring.
I wish I could stop buying pearls long enough to complete some of my projects, lol!

It's just beautiful, Circe. I'm so glad your long ordeal had such a happy ending!!

... "and they lived happily ever after".

It's about time there is closure to this story, and your rings look FAB! So happy for you :appl:

Thank you so much, BabyNurse! Am I remembering wrong, or don't you have some AV stones sitting around, begging to be set? Just think how well they would complement your pearls!

Thank you, darlin'!

And, an unexpected bonus! I got so enthusiastic about playing with every possible permutation that I tried on some of the eternity rings that I "grew out of" during my pregnancy, and ... I'm a 5 again! Woohoo!

I like it best with my Sepkus band.

Circe- I really don't post much but had to comment on how beautiful this came out. I'm no expert but I think this is a beautiful example of Art Deco, offering a lovely blend of traditional and modern lines.

Your diamond totally "pops" in this setting- I see different elements that just work together splendidly. :appl:

So glad your ring had a happy ending! It is truly beautiful! :appl: :appl: :appl:

Hehe, I remember them well - two of the prettiest stones GOG ever cut, in my opinion! Can't wait to see what you do with them. :appl:

Thank you so much! They do certainly live up to my motto that way ... too much is never enough, right?

I couldn't resist playing around with combinations. Tied for first with the Sepkus band is the french cut band with a spacer ... I can't decide which I like more! Day and night, maybe .... :naughty:
