And so it begins...Blagojevich (we call him Sonvajevich here) has begun a media blitz while Illinois Senate begins his impeachment trial. Blago, thus far, has called his trial "Kangaroo Court" and will "boycott" the proceedings against him.

I think it's amazing how callous this man is. There is a multitude of evidence against him, and yet, he refuses to even acknowledge the fact that he's remotely responsible...he's called it all, everything that has happened, "unimaginable"...but I want to know, what's so "unimaginable" about being caught when attempting to do crooked things?

I honestly believe that Blago felt a level of entitlement as the Gov. of Illinois, and assumed that he could do whatever whenever he wanted...including (but probably not limited too) selling a senate seat to the highest bidder!!

And what's funnier yet, Blago has hired the same pubilicty team as the infamous Drew Peterson. Yep, that's right. Drew Peterson. The same "team" that directed the gulity-as-sin Drew to saturate the television with claims of innocence and being "framed" is now guiding our dear Governor through the pitfalls of mass media. And honestly, reading up on the case, it does sound like whomever is incharge of this team just used copy and paste when coming up with Blago's method of maddness control. Blag and Peterson both use the same "I'm innocent of these charges....I'm being framed" mantra. Ick, ick, ick.

He''s going down in 5, 4, 3.....

It''s such a circus that I just automatically tune out news of it everytime it comes out on TV or the radio. This man has no shame.

I really think he''s a bit "off". And there have been a few political figures that have said as much.

I agree. I love watching the circus because you just never know what this guy is going to pull. He is nuts. He is going to be on Rachel Maddow tonight. I can''t wait. She was downright giddy with excitement when she announced that he would be on her show tonight. Although I am sure will be spouting the same nonsense he has been on Today, The View, etc.

Excerpts from his press conference...

...notwithstanding mistakes and errors in judgments from time to time, most of the things that I've done as governor have been the right things and have been things that have helped people.

However, as much as I'd love to participate in the Senate trial and in the Senate process, under the current rules that the Senate provides, they're not allowing me to participate in that process.

I've done nothing inappropriate with regard to the decision to pick a United States senator.

specifically I'm calling on the Chicago Tribune editorial board and the Chicago Sun-Times editorial board. Get involved, write editorials and urge the state Senate leadership to change those rules. (yeah, don't we remember how well he spoke of them late last year on wire tap?)

and my personal favorite

I'm calling on the Senate leadership again -- Senate President Cullerton and Senate leadership -- to do a couple of simple things so that we can get this process moving and the truth can come out. Just change those two rules. Two simple things. Allow me the right to be able to challenge the charges.

Yeah Rod, real simple. We'll just change those two rules in the CONSTITUTION so you can get off. Sure. I'm sure you'd be innocent if it weren't for those two pesky rules. Just like I'd be good at tennis if that damn net wasn't there...

Here''s the vids/transcript for anyone that wants to see it. He should have listened to the lawyer who told him to shut up, and quit because he wouldn''t. He hasn''t helped his case in the trial that''s following.

I thought it was funny in the very beginning of the interview when Rachel says "you''ve handled this very politically"...and Rod smiles as she goes on to ask him if he views himself as winning...

Rod, you''re not winning. Rod, you''re being very typically political...sleezy.

^^ lol

If anyone wants to watch the last act, he''s getting ready to give his "closing argument" to the Senate.

Blago just needs to go away! I am sure he is trying to secure his future with book deals and the like through publicity stints, but I think that is going to backfire on him. Sometimes there is such a bad thing as negative press.

I find this man so ridiculous...It makes Elliot Spitzer look good!

Seriously, I don''t get why he won''t just admit that he was doing illegal things and let this run its course. He knows that there is no way he will get off. I have to agree, I think he''s just in it for the publicity now. He doesn''t realize, though, that all of that money he''ll make from deals will never vindicate what he did. He''s just a sleazy politician giving us Democrats a bad name.

I guess we can all put these away.

What a great day. A sad event, but a great day.

I think if you did one of those psychological assessments of him, he would have some mental disorder like narcisism or something. He has a very different perception of himself than that of reality. I really think he believes he is a victim here. He really, truly believes he is the guy who is helping the people (who elected him twice). :)

He was on Today show today. I think his goal is to have an impact on his future jury pool. Does anyone have any other idea why he would still be making the rounds?
