So, fellow bling-lovers, as I’ve posted before, I have been trying to update my wedding set. I can’t even tell you the amount of iterations that I have done and tried over the years! I am in love with all kinds of wedding sets and so, it’s hard for me to choose. When we first got married and for many years after, all I had was a channel set diamond band that has alternating princess and round cut diamonds. A few years ago, I turned in the band to my jewelers and it’s been impossible ever after to find one like it on-line—as the round/princess combo has been seemingly out of style. It’s still a sentimental pattern for me.

I finally had the round/princess band re-created, but I also love the classic look (which my husband prefers). I was hoping that people could help me out, as you have done before, and vote for which looks aesthetically better: the classic look or with the diamond band? Thank you in advance!:)B74C192D-132C-49C0-A329-D4E958138D20.jpegA37A65DA-04E6-4798-98C8-AE4C5548876A.jpeg

I am of no help because I love both! I also have a solitaire that I rotate with a plain band and a channel set round and emerald cut diamond band (among others ). Enjoy the options!

I also love both, but have voted plain & classic. Up until I got my new engagement ring in early October, I wore my plain band, full princess eternity & pear cut solitaire on my wedding finger. But my new solitaire just screams out to be worn alone with my plain band, so I now wear my eternity on my right. My husband & daughters all voted on various combo's at the time & all agreed the same - let the solitaire speak for itself & add some sparkle to my RH.

Oh, I am laughing to myself, @Ally T because I also have been having my husband and kids vote! They have also voted for the plain band, which has kind of surprised me. Thanks so much for sharing your experience.

I dont know why you have to "settle" on one. For blingier days wear the diamonds...for low-key days wear the solid metal.

Put me in the both team.
But I'm of the More Choices The Better mindset
I have three solitaires and several bands I play around with :)
Can you wear both bands with your solitaire at the same time?

Thanks, and totally see your logic. I am very illogical when it comes to jewelry. I don't know why. But, in my mind, I feel that I need to have one "set" that just defines me and that I wear everyday. It creates a real problem when I love everything, but my reality is that I like things to fit the exact way everyday (if that makes sense), so that I get used to the feeling of it. I am very sensitive to the "feeling" of jewelry, especially rings .The texture, the millimeters/width, heaviness, etc. I wonder if anyone else is like that.

I'd keep both. Especially since you tend to want variety, why not wear them in different combos depending on the occasion or your mood? The e-ring with the diamond band or the plain band, the e-ring with both bands, and the plain band and diamond band together. Or just put one of the bands aside to possibly come back to if and when you get bored with the current one.

But to answer your original question, between the two bands, I prefer the plain one with the solitaire. To me, it just looks clean and simple and lets the solitaire diamond have all the attention. You could also wear the diamond band on your other hand. :)

Hi,
No, I tried and it's much too wide.

Me! I am EXACTLY like this!

Oh my! What a relief! I feel so stupid that I have such a difficult time deciding on what is "right" for me. My eyes want everything, but then when I get it on, for some reason, I am like, "no, that's not going to work..." and it could be the smallest detail that throws me off. Usually it's the sensory things, like the way a ring fits. It's so weird, even if I wear a ring for a while my brain gets used to how it fits/feels, and if I switch it out, it will irritate me because it's not the same feeling...

Yep! I am naked without my pendant, studs & 3 rings. They are absorbed into my body & anything else feels weird. I wear bracelet stacks galore, but change them periodically because it doesn't feel or look right to me anymore. If I reach for my neck (do this 100 times a day) & my chain isn't there, my heart skips a beat until I remember it's in the ultrasonic. I was freaked out when I first got married because my wedding ring felt like a car tyre on my hand, but now, 15 years later, I can't even feel it's there. Weird, eh?!

I *do* think a Cartier Love Bangle would be right for me though :lol-2:

Same!!! I could go for one or two of those too. I love them in gold and white gold!

The only constant is inconsistency.
A pair of rings don’t define you @Tigerlilyrosepetal

They’re just metal. Just things. I think you’ve got a face, a personality, a voice, likes and dislikes that define you more then two bits of round metal that’s seen on millions of other hands, do.

I understand wanting a set set that you just wear without any thought, keep both bands and do just that. Wear the plain one for 2022 (since you’re going by votes of everyone except yourself - that seems to be the majority) and then in 2023 wear the diamond one.

It will irritate you *until* you get used to the new feeling. It’s not different to a toddler not wanting to try a new food because it’s a new taste, new sensation new texture etc. But we don’t go through life saying it’s okay to stick to the ONE thing because that’s what your body / mouth is used to.

You can like variety (as you do) you can own different pieces of jewellery and you can wear each piece for months or years at a time until you don’t notice them on anymore… all of this is possible. No one needs to change their jewellery out every few days. People do it because they want to, you clearly wouldn’t want to - that’s ok. But you can still own variety!!!

Thanks @theredspinel
I think I’m over-analyzing and will just enjoy both. Like you said, things can change with time. I can’t decide right this second, and there is really no need to. I really appreciate everyone’s opinions on which they think “looks” better, though. As always, love my PS people ❤️❤️❤️

I think your posts resonated with me strongly because I am also an over analyser. Well I used to be, I think I’m getting better at it these days!

If you want extra bling without it looking bulky or unnatural, i'd look into making the shank of your rings slimmer and perhaps set the stone a tad bit higher... then you could have both delicate and blingy ER and a band

agree. I had a three stone about the thickness of your e-ring shank and I wore it with a thin eternity ring as a wedding band. It was gorgeous...Maybe you’re undecided because it’s too much symmetry. For what it’s worth between the choices, I like the bling best.

Thanks guys for the ideas. I actually love both the way they are and can’t decide on just “one.” That’s the only problem-but it’s not really that big of a problem!

When we got married 18+ years ago, we couldn’t afford any engagement ring. I got a band with alternating diamonds in princess and round as I wanted to give
Myself options for a stone-if I were lucky to get one someday. However, had I had an engagement ring, I would have just gotten the plain band, I think. I chose the diamond band because I wanted some bling at least. I wore that diamond band for years and it’s pattern is really special to me. Fast forward, years later and I have been trying to update my set but through it all the only thing that makes me feel right is this round/princess diamond ring, but I also love the feel and look of my classic set. To me, they are both perfect and fit fine. I will not be changing either for a while-I went to my jewelers more times than
I can count this year! I love both as they are, just can’t pick “one.”
