Years ago we were told that if we wanted to do business with our European trading partners, we''d have to go metric. Our kids, now 41 and 42 were taught only the metric system in school. We bought into the idea that "everyone" was going metric so we''d better get used to it. Turns out, our major trading partner, the US, did not go metric. Now, we''re in limbo as some of us older folks can convert, but lots of us can''t. Lots of confusion!!!Date: 7/16/2006 6:26:42 AM

I had a lady in the village supermarket asking me to help her calculate the amount of sugar needed from kilos to pounds as she wanted to make jam and had no idea, bless her! I don''t have too much of a problem as I have to calculate medicines etc frequently, but still have to think about it with recipesSo yes I can find it confusing my American BF! I always find that if I ask for 4 oz of ham, the server always has to say '' oh how ever many kilos it is'' as if I make it confusing for her!
Like Miss Blod, I hope they leave the pound alone too

You wanna hear confusing? I think of air temperature in Fahrenheit, and water (or body) temperature in Celsius because of my science training. And I still have trouble converting except for a few key temperatures (100C=212F, 37C=98.6F)!
I''m a little better with volume and mass measurements, but not much. I know what a milliliter (or CC) looks like, but translating that to oz. is a problem.
Hee thanks - I felt like a change and thought he was cute with his Hai Karate!Date: 7/16/2006 3:04:40 PM

By the way, I love, love, love your ''Ray'' avatar. I don''t know why Blockbuster stopped using Carl and Ray in their TV ads; they were hilarious!!!!
