Last but not least, here is what I owe you, the pics. Spent two hours and this is the best I could do for you. It is the purple in between the cobalt blue and red that shows up every now and then.

That is GORGEOUS!! I have never heard of a color change garnet before. Where did you find it? My birthstone is garnet and I would love to take a look at something like that.

i wrote a small typo... who cares... 1920's platinum deco setting, not 1950's

i spent a week in the NY diamond district doing what i needed to in order to see top quality alexandrite which was a nightmare!! I realized all the really fun stones for anything around 2-3 cts is around 30000-40000 so i had to go another way. Then i started reading about the bekily blue garnets that change color, so i went on a hunt to find a top quality stone. I just saw 'wildfish gems' just put up some stones from a new find on his website which made me happy to see, because I love to read any info i can get on these stones.

If anyone knows more about them please let me know.

Sorry, no hand shots, unless you want to see it on my hairy finger (looks nasty).

I've included more pics. Three pics are of it under fluorescent light (or cloudy sky) when it gets BLUE. The other I have is from two light sources on it, and you can see half is red, while the other half is blue. The camera doesn't pick up the red well, but you will have to trust me it is red red.

Thanks again for the encouragement... i worked damn hard to put it together even though I'm SURE the miner worked harder than me to find the stone, so wherever you are, a big shout out to you!
