2.1ct blue garnet with excellent clarity, the color under natural light is gray-blue, without green tint, very similar to blue spinel, purple-red under incandescent light. This garnet has very rare color、 very rare clarity and very rare size。 Posted here for everyone's reference

That's a nice specimen. I have two of these but unfortunately they are much darker.

Yes, most color-changing garnets are dark in natural light and usually show blue-violet, blue-green or yellow-green in natural light, and blue is rareDSC_8656.jpg

I also have one that is silver in incandescent and purple in the sunshine. Are those much more common?

I don't think there is garnet silver in incandescent and purple in the sunshine, maybe you mean silver in the sunshine and purple in incandescent?

I guess the garnet you mean is similar to the one I circled, silver-gray in sunlight, purple-red in incandescent light

Yes, you are correct. I've had it in a gem box over a decade and had it switched in my head.

Congratulations, this is a rare color in color-changing garnets, silver-gray under natural light, green under white LED light, and purple under incandescent light

Wow, never saw one this light in tone. Beautiful!

Beautiful stones.

I have two CCG with a lighter Tone - with a lower RI so lower spessartine and higher pyrope content. And less magnetic.

They are quite rare.

Yes they are relatively rare, it took me a long time to collect these samples

Well this thread is an eye opener. I’m a January birthday but have never really done justice to the garnet world. Having gone down a Google rabbit hole I’m amazed at how beautiful some of these colour changing stones are - better than many Alexandrite which has that horrible muddy look so often.

So glad you thought to share this with us. A really unusual find.

Garnet is a large family, including a variety of colors, there are also many famous varieties, such as demantoid, savorite, Fanta(Mandarin), high-quality Russian demantoid is more expensive than ruby. I will do a thread of the full variety of the garnet family later. by the way, I’m a January birthday too
