Does anyone have experience with blue-green sapphires?

I'd like to use little ones pave-set in a wedding band. However, the jeweler is saying it's going to be very expensive and they probably wouldn't be as high quality (as opposed to going with a more typical blue sapphire). Does this sound right? I imagine it might be hard to get enough of them that match...

You can try some of the vendors listed at the above sticky threads.

Multicolour has two blue-green sapphires listed. I didn't see any small ones. You could email them and ask if they have any.

Good luck!

(Their website is www.multicolour.com )

Basically you are looking for a parcel of blue green sapphire melees? They should not be expensive since this isn't a preferred colour but I agree that they aren't going to be easy to find and may not look as nice as you imagine (likely to have cut and colouration issues since there is very little market for them).

Have you considered blue-green irradiated diamond melee? Here's a thread about blue-green irradiated diamonds. You can do a search in the PS search engine for more threads.

Here's a thread about a place that actually irradiates diamonds:

Can someone chime in who owns an irradiated diamond?

Perhaps it would help for you to post a swatch or an example of what you're trying to achieve? The reason I say this is there is a whole range of color. The majority of blue green sapphires I've seen are not bright, but more muted, often having a bit of yellow, or grey. Perhaps you could find diffused sapphires that come close in color, but I'm not sure. If you want more of a slight greenish blue, than irradiated diamonds would be the way to go, but I think of them more as blue than green blue.

Jenny & Jim Elliot from http://www.coolamonsapphires.com/ have exactly what you need. :wavey:

They specialise in precision cut sapphire melee in all shapes, colours & sizes. Lovely people - dont bother with the website too much - just call or email them straight out. They often deal directly with jewellers too. Email contact is [email protected]

I got 4 perfectly matched inexpensive sapphire sidestones my ring (can't post pics but if you search Parti-sapphire ring, you'll probably find a pic on PS). They were super helpful, friendly and let me spend hours picking out stones to match.

Example of some of the Coolamon melee - bit blurry i know but when I went to the local gem show they had trays of thousands of sapphires like this - every colour of the rainbow! It was like heaven.... :saint:

Oh wow, that is super fun!!! I never thought about using gem shows to hunt for melee but makes total sense.
