I am set on the stone. I have a 1.1ct ideal cut diamond. I am torn on the setting. I am between the "Petite Cathedral Pave" ( http://www.bluenile.com/build-your-own-diamond-ring?forceStep=STYLE_STEP&offer_id=9917 ) and the "Cathedral Pave" ( http://www.bluenile.com/diamond-engagement-ring-setting-platinum_9936 )

The price is only a few hundred $ difference so it's really not a make or break thing. I just want to make sure I am getting the right size. The petite seems like it may look too small, but the i am worried that the regular cathedral may take too much attention from the stone. I keep flipping back and forth on which one. Any input.

The cathedral setting is 2.2 mm, which is still a fairly thin band. Do you know your GF's preference?

If you click on where it says 'recently purchased' then you can see some pictures of different sized diamonds in both settings-that may help you decide. There is a picture of the cathedral with a 0.9 ct ideal diamond on the 1st page, and I don't think it takes too much attention away from the center stone, but it does look more substantial than the 1.5 mm band

Either will work beautifully in my opinion. What size finger does your GF have? I wear a size five and my ring is 1.3 or 1.5mm can't remember, but it is very thin and delicate and I love this look. Especially since I am pairing it with a matching band, making the set a total of 2.6/3.0mm on long slender fingers. I think it makes my stone seem bigger since the band is so delicate. Really though, 2.2 is a thin band as well. I attached a pic of my ring, 1.55RB on a 1.5ishmm band... maybe that will give you some perspective- my stone is 7.35/7.40 in diameter.

Personally I will choose the petite cathedral pave, it will make my stone appear to be larger, and it's so delicate and feminine.

Ditto on the petite cathedral.

+1

Mine isn't from BN, but it's a very similar design and I LOVE how it makes my stone "pop". The thinner the band, the larger the diamond will look. Unless your GF prefers wider bands, I think the petite is definitely the way to go. My FI bought my diamond from BN and they were fantastic to work with. Good luck!

ETA: It serves me right for not clicking on your links. I thought you were referring to the settings w/o side stones. The same philosophy still applies though.

If your GF has small fingers I would go with the petite...if larger like 6 or more (no one take offense, I wear a 7.25) I might
think hard about the wider one.

Well she is pretty tall, 6'. She is very slim but I guess she has big fingers. She wears a 7. Maybe I it is a good idea to do the bigger one.

The diamond is round btw I didn't mention that in the original post.

This is my 1.03 diamond on a pave band that is 1.8 mm on size 7 finger. I usually wear it with the wide band in my avitar. Hope it helps you decide.

I think on a size seven finger that she might prefer the slighly "thicker" band. I know I would.

agreed. the super thin one might look too thin on a size 7 and not sturdy enough.
