How does this happen?!
So I picked out the cutest Melissa Sweet BM dresses(http://www.priscillaofboston.com/dress_detail.jsp?gid=50&sfid=50631&f and thought I was being SO proactive by having my BMs order and pay for them December of last year (b/c they take 25 weeks to receive them) for my wedding August 29th of this year. Everything was great, the dressed came in in June all ready to go. B/c 2 of my BMs live on the East Coast (I live in Los Angeles), I decided to just ship the packages myself via Fed-Ex, b/c my bridal salon (Mon Amie - GREAT place, WONDERFUL customer service) charged $35.00 a piece to ship them and I was trying to save a buck (STUPID ME).
Anyway, I Fed-Exed the dresses, one to NJ the other to NY, and specifically told the people at Fed-Ex that I needed a direct signature for the package. I also told them what the value of the dresses were (and I thought I would even overestimated a bit) just in case they were to get lost.
Well, both packages were delivered, but NEITHER of them received the signatures I asked for. Therefore, one was left on a doorstep in the middle of Manhattan where someone decided to promptly steal the dress from inside the box and leave the empty box waiting for it''s rightful owner. Great. Luckily, my BM in NJ lives in a secure building so it didn''t matter that my package was simply left there. Anyway, 5 weeks before my wedding, I get the call from my BM in NY who tells me what has happened and I FLIP out.
Long story short, I called Mon Amie who promptly worked throughout the weekend and the following week to contact Melissa Sweet in NY to see if there was any way to get another dress rush ordered. With all their hard work and persistence, they found me a dress, BUT it doesn''t get here until August 25th-ish and my BM doesn''t get here until August 28th (yup...my wedding is the 29th). SO that means that I have to drive her an hour each way the day before the wedding to get fitted (she gets in at 11am...rehearsal starts at 4pm...cutting it close) and then have someone else drive her on wedding day to pick up the dress. Talk about stress!!! I''m just happy they were able to work something out and that it didn''t cost me TOO much.
As for Fed-Ex, they will NEVER receive any of my business again. They almost ruined the most important day of my life thus far and had the AUDACITY to pass me off from person to person everytime I called to check the status of my claim and kept telling me to "call back another day b/c the person who is on your acct is on lunch/out of the office." This went on for over 2 weeks...so here we are 3 weeks before my wedding...they reimbursed me for the amount that I wrote on the original packing slip, but I had to pay almost 1.5 times that amount to get the new dress rush ordered.
This is a VERY long post and I apologize for taking up your time, but I HAD to get this out!
Hope everyone else''s plans are going well!!!
