So, two of my friends got engaged this spring and asked me to be a BM. Yay! One wedding is in Feb, the other is in June. Both are doing very casual, laid back weddings, which means more casual BM dresses.

I went dress shopping with friend A a couple weekends ago, and liked a wedding gown that at DB which this dress would compliment:

I tried it on, it's cute on - I'm not in love with it, but as BM dresses go, it's perfectly acceptable. I'm the MoH, so friend/bride A said that ultimately, it's my choice. Yay again!

So, friend B calls - and she says she's chosen a color (different from Bride A), wants to go with DB and says "just pick something that's chiffon, everyone can have a different dress and that's fine." I checked out the dresses, and there's not many chiffon options. This one is probably the most flattering for my body type.

QUESTION: Would you CHOOSE to purchase the same dress twice in different colors? Why or why not?

Just for fun, here it is again! I''d have pink and green, theoretically.

As a bridesmaid seven times over, here's my take.

I would if it fit me really well, I liked the way it looked on me, and it was priced well, then yeah - I would. And that sounds like the situation you're describing.

I have never worn a bridesmaid dress again, so... from my experience, it wouldn't really bother me that I'd have the same dress in different colors. They'd both be going to the back of the closet or would be donated whether they were the same or different.

But if the dress was expensive, uncomfortable, looked hideous on me, or needed a lot of tailoring, then no. I'd try to find something different.

BTW - that's a cute dress!

What she said! What would be really awesome is if you could find a way to talk them into using the SAME color scheme for the dresses

Each dress I bought, when I had the chance for input, I gave it. Still, I find that on the rare occasion I try an old BM dress on, it looks...like...a..BM dress. And back into the closet it goes.

Now, the flip side to the scrimping is: I just asked my friends to be BMs and my dear MOH said "If you want me to wear a banana suit I''ll be there, just tell when." -gotta love dedication.
