Hello everyone!!! Just wanted to stop by and say my fiance and I booked our reception venue this weekend!! So excited! I''m getting married on Oct 9, 2009

Cannot wait. But, now the real stress comes... no backing out now

hehe

Anyway, it is a Friday. What are your thoughts on that? I have been to a few Friday evening weddings and did not see a problem with it at all. It is also sooo much more inexpensive than a Saturday evening. The reception starts at 7:00 pm and the ceremony will probably start around 5:30. So I figured if people still need to work it''s late enough to where they can still make it.

The place is called DiNolfo''s Banquets in Homer Glen IL. Here is a link if you all want to check it out

Wow what a bright, beautiful reception venue! My fiance and I decided to set a Fri wedding after going to one last year. We''re also having our ceremony at 5 and reception at 7 to allow for guests to come after work (even though many have already told us that they''re taking the whole day off anyway). My MO convinced my fiance that Fri was a good idea by pointing out that our wedding weekend will be longer and could allow for a post-wedding barbeque on Sat too, if our guests want to stay and party for a bit

Looks beautiful, congrats on setting a date :D.

Congratulations on booking the reception! I wouldn''t see any problems with a Friday-I''m getting married on a Thursday as we couldn''t get a friday or saturday for 3-4 years and everyones booked the Thurs/Fri off for it.

Congrats! My wedding will also be on the Friday (a few weeks before yours) with the ceremony starting around 5/5:30. I don't see a problem with it! The locals can maybe take a half day off if they need to. Out of town people will need to take at least Friday off if not Thursday, but I don't think it'll be a deciding factor over who does and doesn't come. And with the ceremony starting later, people can do their traveling on Friday hopefully and not have to take off Thursday. I chose a Friday wedding because it was cheaper per person and they had a lower minimum: 65 vs. 100 people. I don't see a problem with it at all! Congrats on finding a venue

Do you have any pictures?

ETA: I just noticed that you posted a link. It looks great!

ETA2: I just read another response about how having a Friday wedding gives you a longer weekend. I definitely agree with that! Lots of my guests will be from out of town, so I think it'll be nice if they can spend time on Saturday visiting the area. We live near NYC and will be great if people can come into the city with us on Saturday to hang out. I also have a friend getting married on a Friday in NH and on Saturday (July 4th) we'll all be heading to Boston for some fun. I love the long weekend!

Thanks everyone for your nice responses! Wow, I guess Fridays are getting very popular nowadays

I do have pictures, however, not on my work computer so I will post them when I get home later this evening.

That is fantastic. The venue looks beautiful! Although you are in it for good now ... I''m sure that it feels great to have this major decision behind you ... Everything should fall into place now that you have this in line!

Yay!

That is a beautiful place!! I''m seeing so many picture ops on those stairs, ahhhh! Congrats on a major decision behind you!

Congratulations on setting a date and booking a reception venue! It looks beautiful. I don't see anything wrong with a wedding on ANY day. But that's just me...
