Thanks to everyone’s help and guidance, I was able to pick up a great stone that I’m now looking to create an engagement ring around. I’ve contacted a couple people that I’ve seen recommended on here (Steven Kirsch, Maytag Hannah) but I’m curious if there are any good jewelers in the greater Boston area that could do a nice custom three stone ring for me? As always, thanks so much for all the help!

Leon Mege is in NYC, which is not terribly far tbh.

I personally don't think using a local vendor trumps the overall quality you can achieve if you broaden to other locations...I know shipping back and forth and phone calls, etc can be daunting...but it's tooootally doable now and folks here can help you understand what to expect if that's what is holding you back

I'm sure there is a decent jeweler in boston though, just not familiar with any, so hopefully someone has some experience

I spoke to Leon Mege but they don’t set loose stones. To be honest, the shipping and lack of ability to see / correct issues has been a major hesitation for me in working with someone remote. I know it’s a bit silly as numerous people do it daily but, as a first timer, it’s a bit daunting.

I understand the hesitation with shipping and whatnot, I really do! The first time I did a custom project I was very overwhelmed. All I can say is, if I found a jeweler I really loved I wouldn’t bypass the chance to work with them.

Is there a specific style you’re after?

Style is going to be a yellow gold three stone with round brilliant center and pear sides. There are a few additional requirements such as vintage inspired details (while still remaining modern), low set stone to avoid catching on anything (works with hands often), etc.

I’m happy to entertain other remote jewelers, I was only able to find the contact info for 2 (mentioned above) that seemed regularly recommended on here.

I can recommend Bostonian. They are very kind and easy to work with. They designed my original setting. My second and current setting was designed by David Klass in LA, and I will admit that I prefer it.

Seconding Bostonian! They’re a very kind family and super-talented. The only place I trust with my heirlooms and vintage pieces.

I am currently doing my first ever remote setting for a ring with David Klass. He has been a great communicator and quick turn around time for CADs and he even said the ring should only take a couple of weeks. He was casting the setting the day after I gave the approval. I also relied on suggestions from PSr's when I got the CADs.

Of course, I'm waiting to see the final product, but I'm anticipating it to be beautiful based on others I've seen here. Also, his price was very competitive compared to the other vendor I contacted. (Who also does beautiful work. I'll post it as soon as it comes.
Good luck with whichever way you decide to go!

Here is David Klass's instragram page for examples of his work. He usually works with CADS so not hand-forged like Maytal.
If you are nervous about the ring design you can post the CADs here and get comments from PSers who have lots of experience
with viewing/working CADs and knowing what the final output will be.

I'd rather have Maytal or Steven Kirsch though. They are considered masters. I'd rather have David Klass over a local though because
I'd know what I was getting.

Here are a few 3 stone pear rings by DK for examples

This one has vintage elements (tri-wire shank, engraved baskets on pears)

Great...this is an old post from January that someone pulled up. That's twenty minutes I'll never get back!:x2

This ring has been created and can be seen here:

Apologies, should have posted sooner, but yes, I did manage to select a jeweler and get the ring made. Thanks to everyone for contributing, your help was immensely appreciated.

No problem @tailster ...you weren't the one who pulled up an old thread (blaming that one on SparkleRookie), or the one who didn't check the date on it (that was me!)

Glad you ended up with a beautiful ring!

Edit...can anyone tell I'm in a cranky mood :D
