So I went to the sale early because I was afraid if I waited till tomorrow when my mom gets here all the good dresses would be gone. I''m so glad I did!!!! I found an amazing dress!!

It is an Angel Sanchez....is anyone wearing one of these? The tag on the dress said it retails for $5500....and it was priced at $750!!!! Can you believe that?!?!?! Does anyone know if that''s how much this dress actually was?? The zipper in the back is totally broken, but other than that it is in really great condition. Totally different from what I thought I would end up with, but I LOVE IT!!!!!! And it makes me so happy that the money goes to such a good cause!!

And to the people who read my post from yesterday, I went all alone!! haha Oh and the other bonus was that they were giving away gift bags when you buy a dress for $750 or more, so I totally lucked out on that too!! The gift bag was worth $500 they said!!!

On to the pictures!!!

Crappy full length shot of the back....I couldn''t really take a pic of the back on me since the zipper is broken and I had to hold it closed myself...

and kind of similar look to that melissa sweet you wanted congrats girl good job

That $5500 pricetag is definitely plausible. I tried on an Angel Sanchez at Saks that was about that much.

It is GORGEOUS!! And so unique. Congratulations! You did great.

i really like it!
so unique, and it is very flattering on you
congratulations

Very unique and it looks fabulous!

Now, what was in that little gift bag there???

Yeah!!!!!! See what happens when you don your big girl panties?!? Congrats! That dress is so pretty and divine and unique. It reminds me of a delicate cake confection. Like spun sugar... Looks like it needs a little taking in yes? I cant wait to see if after alterations because it's going to hug you like a glove. SO pretty! So now you and your mom can take the dress and shop together for a veil this weekend, and maybe go for a fitting?

ETA: I'm envisioning a floor length veil of plain, single layer, low on your hair, sweeping behind you, echoing that pretty tulle bottom layer of your dress.

Congratulations! Your dress looks lovely, and it''s great that you''re so excited about it! I like the material the dress is made of - what is it? Yes, it''s very unique and beautiful.

Glad to hear the experience was a lot better than you expected. And YAYY for the gift bag and bonus!!

Beautiful dress, and terrific price! Love the gift bag, too! Congratulations!!!

I love it!!! I really do. A bit of vintage and very unforgetable. Beautiful. Great deal too!!! CONGRATS!

Very pretty! Congrats!

Thanks everyone!!

Joy - yeah it does have a flowy feeling to it like the Dora. I''ll always love the Dora, but I know I''ll be just as happy in this one, and FI is ecstatic! Now I can get the wedding band I REALLY want

now that you guys mention it, it is pretty unique. at the sale, it wasn''t one of the ones that everyone else was like WOW to, but it''s more of a different dress and i''m really not into beads and sparkles...unless it''s jewelry of course. right when i was about to buy it, someone was like wow that''s a cool dress! and it is cool!

The material on the skirt is a really nice, soft tulle, not the nasty scratchy tulle. The bodice has a really nice lace on it with bands of the same tulle as the skirt. The best part about it is that it''s so light! I picked up the dress from the rack, normally dresses weigh like 15 pounds but this was was so light. The wedding will be outside in August in Calgary so it will hopefully be pretty hot. Otherwise I''ll need to find someone to make me a little bolero!

I''m just not sure how the bustle will work, the only bustles I''v seen on tulle (like the Monique Lhuillier Swan Lake I think it is?) don''t seem very sure and might fall out. We''ll see what the seamstress can do. I''m still thinking about a birdcage veil too, any opinions? I really love those ones Joy has been posting...

Karasue that is SO pretty. It looks BEAUTIFUL and so chic. Are you going to wear it strapless? Buttons down the back or a new zipper? Take a picture of the train on!!

Karasue,

It looks great on you! The detailing is very feminine, it adds a sort-of vintage touch!

I too am curious what was in the goody bags!

When you posted the other day I was really hoping you''d go on your own and I''m so glad you did! This dress is fantastic, the shape is great (I''m a big fan of the mermaid shape). It looks great now, but I think you''re going to be ecstatic when it''s altered and fits you perfectly. I think birdcage veils look best with vintage shapes like that, but I love surfgirl''s idea of wearing a longer, one-layer tulle veil that matches the tulle on your skirt. I also had a mermaid gown and bought two veils: a birdgate and a long, single-layer tulle veil and ended up going with the tulle. For an outdoor wedding, nothing beats a light veil in the breeze :)

Congrats on finding this gem at such a great price!! It''s beautiful!

Wow, nice work!! You found a beautiful dress at a great price. I can''t wait to see your updated pictures when you get the zipper fixed.

Good question, buttons might look really good going down to the bottom seam of the bodice. I was just going to have them fix the zipper but...and people might hate this idea, but I would LOVE to wear a black sash, I was thinking possibly right where that line of tulle detail is right under the boobs. And I''m thinking only for the reception. I may just be obsessed with the idea of a sash

I did a really bad rough-in of a sash with a little brooch...

When reading that I thought it was a bad idea, but the photo makes it seem like a possibility. If you did it with a really soft tulle, or satin maybe. Oh oh!! It could be your something blue!!!

...or not if it doesn''t go with your colors.

Buttons would look so elegant; but I''m biased because I dislike zippers on anything wedding.

I personally would do either the birdcage veil OR the sash, I think both together might look busy, IMHO. Whatever you do, it''ll look beautiful! Congrats!!

Coming from a black sash lover (see my dress post), I don't think it will work - however I am reserving judgement until I see a real one on you!

I think the dress and your body look perfect without the sash, and in your drawing it doesn't look quite right.

I can't believe I'm saying that...I love black sashes!

Let me see if I can link to my post with pics...

ETA here it is! https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/dress-shopping-with-pics.69356/

May give you an idea...I think it is worth a try but for what its worth, I think it looks fab as-is!

I absolutely love a sash, and black is just so classy against white. I''ll definitely have to try on a real sash, that drawing is so terrible. I was also thinking maybe a really light pink color might be nice. My colors are going to be different shades of light, dark, and bright pink with cream and black accents.

Or, as nebe suggested buttons might be just perfect. Maybe the sparkley crystal ones rather than the white ones covered in fabric...

I''ll definitely be posting later on for more opinions on veils/sash/etc!

Too bad I can''t start doing alterations stuff yet. I''m moving across the country (actually out of the country, to Canada!) in December so I''m just going to get all the alterations done up there. It''s going to be torture having it just sitting in my closet for the next 3 months!!

very pretty and such a great cause! take it to a good seamstress! I am glad it all worked out so well!

I''m not sure if I like the birdcage veil idea, I think a longer softer veil might go better. The sash might work if it was wide enough to cover the whole tule section so it looks like the break in the lace was made for a sash, and not that a sash was put over the top of the tule (I hope that made sense). I like the button idea too.

Just a suggestion, take your dress in to a couple of different seamstresses and see what ideas they give you while you are in fashion central New York :) You will not get better ideas anywhere else, and then get it altered if you want in Canada with those ideas in mind

and I am a little biased about the cage veil idea as you know but I think it would be an absolute showstopper with that dress
