GIA cert below...cut looks excellent and it looked great in the store (my untrained eye didn't see any of the inclusions and it had great hearts/arrows although an ASET was unavailable). However the amount of inclusions on the certificate continue to spook me out and I'm worried I overpaid (paid $24K all in USD with tax+setting). The Holloway score was by far the best out of all the diamonds in this 2c range I saw. What do you think?

I'd say that's a pretty fair price.
Do you feel it had some transparency and light return/leakage issues?

Honestly tough to say...it didn't look any better or worse compared to the other diamond I was looking at (2.1c G VS2 with slightly less stellar cut but no real inclusions) but that one was $10k more so I opted for this one as it looked eye clean.

Is it odd for the jeweller not to have an ASET? She seemed like she wasn't sure what an ASET even was...

There are a couple ways you can perform a DIY check similar to an Ideal-Scope or ASET:

The HCA is more for eliminating than selecting. It’s getting an average size because it’s a touch deeper than PS generally recommends but if it looks great in person, I wouldn’t make that extra .5% depth a deal breaker.
you have a huge advantage on selection since you have access to the diamond and can view it in person! If you think you like it, an ASET scope would be ideal, but if nothing else, take the diamond in every lighting condition you can! Jewelers lights make everything sparkle, so take it outside, in normal office and lighting similar to your home.

Sometimes when a SI clarity stone has cert with very few inclusions on plot but somehow got SI, it is actually more concerning because it could mean that the inclusions are quite prominent. So lots of little inclusions is sometimes more eye clean than having only a few inclusions but they are large/prominent!

My stone is almost the exact same specs as yours and it is gorgeous. I get compliments and see people gazing all the time, including when I’ve been in lab courses at GIA.
